Firegarden are a band that believe in the emotions engineered through music in its purest form: live. Based in Sheffield, the 4 piece of James Jeffery (bass and lead vocals), Jake Mann (lead and rhythm guitars), Ashley Tuck (drums), and Andy Gotteri (keyboards) are a hard working, down to earth bunch of youths with a love of creating and playing.
Firegarden are band with a multitude of influences. The band we look up to more than any other is Deep Purple but we like a whole range of stuff from Christina Aguilera to the Mars Volta and from Rainbow to Yes. We sound British and appeal to a wide range of people including students, bikers and those who were there in the 70s. We've played more than 150 gigs and recorded four independent albums. The most recent of these was Walking on Saffron, a soulful musical journey dealing with a turbulent year in the history of the band. It was released in May 2006.
We are a band of contrasts. Scratch the surface and you realise that things aren't quite what they would seem: We love solos but hate pointless widdling. Equally, we like metal, but, although some of our songs are heavy and we use disorted guitars, we don't consider ourselves a metal band. We're not sleazy in the slightest, or glam - a nice glass of lemonade and a 70s Doctor Who video before bed will do us nicely.
Firegarden have won battles of the bands in Wolverhampton and Sheffield and have been favourably reviewed many times over. We've supported all sorts of bands including Thunder, Slade, The Levellers and Budgie. We've played gigs all over the country and will continue to play anywhere the feeling is right!
