About Me

I started listening to Prince back in 1980 and haven't stopped since. I've been a DJ/VJ since 1988 in my Army days back in Germany. From the start, I've always mixed a combination of the best audio jamz with the visual as well: music videos, live clips, movie bits. From my humble beginnings as a DeeJay, I have always made it a point to throw Prince in the mix. I have lived in Hollywood off and on since 1995. Now is the time here in the City of Angels for me to throw down with a monthly Prince club night. Having a massive collection of not only Prince but all the many artists he's produced, written and performed for as well as all the many different artists Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (from The Time...a Prince creation) have produced and written for, I thought it would make a more complete club if I encompassed all that the "Minneapolis Sound" has to offer. Jam and Lewis created and produced some amazingly soulful jamz for incredible artists back in the 80s (and beyond) and with their company Flyte Tyme, they have and continue to make history. Prince on the other hand was the force that made the "Minneapolis Sound" what it became for all the world to behold and love. And, back in the early 80s, he created the group 'The Time'. Assembling an incredible group of budding musicians: Morris Day, Monte Moir, Jesse Johnson, Jerome Benton, Jellybean Johnson and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, they helped Jam and Lewis gain this incredible musical foundation through intense performing, touring, jamming and rehearsing. Having Prince as a mentor of sorts, they learned the ropes faster than if they had tried to get a music career going themselves. This monthly club night I have created called 'HEAD' (inspired by Prince's song of the same name) is my way to "Sho The Love" to Prince, all the artists he helped create, teach, write and produce for as well as Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and many of the artists they produced, wrote for and cultivated. In Los Angeles, there is NO night to give ultimate props to Prince, Jam and Lewis and their numerous artists. That time is over. "What Time Is It?" It's time for "HEAD"!!!!!
