Band Members: NICK AUSTWICK - GUITAR AND VOCALS
Nick which is latin for "him with the glasses" dicovered his talent for song writing in the early 70's when elton john and himself would sit at eltons upright piano and pen down classics such as "this train" and "candle in the conservatory" they fell out in the early 80's in a squabble over sleeping arrangments and a legal battle ensued over the rights to said songs. Mr john was victorious and nick was forced into hibernation. he was reborn in 1985 and went on to form Turning Tides twenty years later...the saga continues...
ASH PASCOE - BASS AND VOCALS
Ash was born on the outskirts of a small Peruvian village and was raised by a pack of wild guinea pigs. At the age of 14, whilst feasting on a zebra carcass at the side of a road, he heard a passing car playing the greatest hits of The Style Council and new his life belonged to music. After carving a bass from a nearby palm tree and using his own hair dipped in Um Bongo as strings, he set sail for England, where he bleached his skin (to blend in with the white man), grew a 'rod stewart' haircut and joined Turning Tides.
TOBY GREEN - DRUMS
Toby...Tobias...Stavros...as a child he had far to much hair in and around his face so he would shave using an old wooden stick. he had fashioned the stick into a razor using some coral he had discovered around the back of the jet garage on station road. it was a dry sunday afternoon when the previously mentioned wooden razor snapped and toby discovered he could tap a great rhythm on the various bathroom work surfaces. after hours of electrolysis (to remove the unsightly hair) tobias was bought a drum kit by his parents...his natural abilitys shone through and he was quickly snapped up by TT's
LEWIS LANGFORD - LEAD GUITAR
lewis came from a cat rescue centre in 2005. we found him wallowing in his own mess with nothing but a stinking litter tray to his name. his whiskers where bent but his coat was in good shape so we took him home and straightend him out real nice and good. one french tuesday ash returned home to see that lewis had been down to the farm and traded nine of his dairylee slices in exchange for a battered old SG and an in-audible fender amp. lewis made that guitar weep like a japanese prisoner of war!! he shaved off his fur (up to his shoulders), started to walk on his back legs, got kitted out at river island and took up his rightful place in turning tides...thus completing the band.
Influences: Jeff Buckley, Coldplay, David Gray, Bright Eyes...there just a few but we are inspired by alot of things!
