Open mic and jam sessions at the legendary Smalls in the West Village became routine. A band was born--Marta C. and the Mission on Mars performed from posh places such as Lot 61 to grittier venues such as The Cooler and Rare. In 2000, a collaboration with producer Meyer Lansky resulted in the R&B song "Anyway" and the soulful "Someone Like Us."
In 2005, Marta's talent caught the attention of internationally renowned house DJ and producer Lance Jordan. His remixed version of "Someone Like Us" is proof of their magic working chemistry together. The team continues to create original disco-y- dance-heavy, house music, with each of them citing the other one as a key source of inspiration. They have performed live at New York's house music hub Cielo, in Miami at the famed Winter Music Conference, and Rise club in Boston. "Shine Together", Marta's first release on Dusk, was licensed to Armani's in-store compilation and gets radio and club play from Pete Tong, Hector Romero, Peter Rauhofer and other top DJs. "Someone Like Us" and "Save the Night" are slated for release this year.
Recently joining Dusk Recordings, Marta’s music will soon be available through major outlets such as iTunes, Beatport, and The Orchard.com.
