The Washington Post Says:
"One of the most pleasant developments over the past year in the local music scene has been the emergence of the Federal Reserve collective. It's a loosely-affiliated group of like-minded artists that favors a sound that's sort of alt-country and sort of late-'60s Laurel Canyon (and much more Gram Parsons than the Eagles). But more than a common sound, the acts share an affinity for gimmick-free, straightforward pop songs that remind you of a time when pop songs could be built around guitars." --(May 2006)

The Washington Post also says:
"We're big fans of the local Federal Reserve collective, which is home to some of this town's best alt-country/folk-pop/whatever you want to call it bands like Kitty Hawk, These United States and Revival. Holding up the rock wing of the Reserve is Let's French." --(December 2006)

The City Paper Says:
"It's OK if you're still clueless, for now, about the D.C. musical collective known as the Federal Reserve. The way guitarist/singer Jesse Elliott tells it, the coalition of "like-minded folkie-folk" might have formed in late 2005 or 2006, but it doesn't really matter. The important thing is the momentum: Elliott, also the frontman for folk/psych/rock band These United States, says that in the past year, the Reserve has grown to about 10 separate acts, many of which cross-pollinate and all of which embrace the DIY ethic in one way or another. Beyond Elliott's band, the membership includes Vandaveer, a forward-looking folk project by transplanted Kentuckian Mark Charles Heidinger; Revival, which combines trang with amped-up riffs; Kitty Hawk, which prefers laid-back melodies; Rose, who embraces the old-school singer-songwriter image; Let's French, which strays to the indie-rock side of things; and Mikal Evans, who probably will earn a Cat Power comparison or two. Heidinger says he's not the only vagabond in the ranks. "Several of us relocated from parts all over and thought a collective of some sort might ground the group in the scene and serve as a mutual launching pad" for ideas, songs, and so on. It's already starting to pay off: Three of the acts- Vandaveer, Revival, and Evans- have signed to nascent D.C. label Gypsy Eyes, which also is releasing a Federal Reserve compilation." (Dec 29 '06)
