random people and the adventures they take me on...
non-nuclear families & friends. dark people, darker beer, and the darkest of chocolates. melt-me-massages. the satisfaction of working hard, but playing even harder. reinventing myself, time and time again...
all around the world.
MY peoples: the ones with rhythm and soul,
luscious lips, and a lotta (s)ass; thinkers, juicy creative types, and those who've busted open the socially constructed B.S. boxes: adoptees, artists, athletes, bodyworkers, dancers, djs, chefs, economists, entreprenuers, farmers, healers, islanders, musicians, naturalists, organizers, photographers, playrights, social activists & entreprenuers, teachers, writers, & world citizens who want to
CHANGE IT ALL, not just chill along for the ride.
This fall season eases me into the Saturn Return - an astrological phenomenon happens when one is 28-30 years old. As Saturn takes approximately 29.5 years to orbit the Sun, its return aligns to the exact degree along the ecliptic it occupied at the time of a person's birth.
Saturn's challenges include time, confusion, and hard lessons, while its blessings include accomplishment, reflection, prestige, and maturity...thus the thirtieth birthday's role as a deep rite of passage and the "true beginning" of adulthood, self-evaluation, independence, responsibility, ambition, and full maturation.
This transition towards my Saturn's home feels fabulous; never before have I felt such synchronicity of my heart, body, and spirit...major professional and personal risks undertaken in recent years have begun to bear fruit, and my libra scales are teetering on the brink of balance. It's perhaps the best time to know me, and to love me, because I finally know and love myself.
On a spiritual level, I was raised Christian but am in an exploratory quest for global traditions and teachings. Most recently I draw inspiration from Goddess legends past and present. The above diva is Oshun, African Goddess of all the arts, but especially dance. Beauty belongs to Oshun and represents the human ability to create beauty for its own sake, to create beyond need. Known especially for her sweetness, she is Goddess of Love, but she has a dark side and knows secrets by divination. Her sacred animal is the royal peacock -
a variation on which I plan to strut my stuff for Halloween this year.
And to whom might the goddess muse dance you might ask? Reggae and dancehall pulse through my blood, but soulful house and down home gospel rock my world - anytime, any place, live or with a dj mastermind. I love to go out and revel in the positive people and vibrations that accompany these grooves; if I go home before the lights come on at the club, it's likely because I've got a long run scheduled just a few hours later before the morning sun comes up. Check out my music list; drop me a line if it's missing sumpn, and bump my butt out on the dance floor :-)
tell me if you want me to...
