As an individual...
Married (32 yrs - June 20th!), with children (two sons, 22 & 17).
A journey-level commercial and industrial electrician by trade and job foreman.
lifelong Cat person.
Interested in historical places.
Passionate about time in open space/landscapes, from oak woodlands, to the coast and beaches, to mountain scenery, to quiet desert settings - to walk & hike, to explore & experience, to escape & renew.

As a photographer...
I have been involved with photography for 30 years, with 25+ years of professional experience and skills. Despite this strong background, I still believe I am a "work in progress." I have to think there are new things to learn or discover, and I have a willingness to see a familiar concept or place through another's unique sense of idea or vision; I value the exchange of a good collaborative opportunity. I accept and appreciate the risks and rewards of choosing to prefer "real world" settings and environments, whether rural or city.
Formats - 35mm (30+ years), 2 1/4 square (25+ years), digital (4 years), 4x5 (on-and-off since the early 1990s).
Experience - photographer, assistant (lighting, sets, logistics), instructor (classroom, field, workshops), writer/editor.
Styles/Genres - portrait, fashion, figure; landscapes, cityscapes; night imagery, b&w infrared; and expressive interpretations/impressions.
Photography remains a passion, even after this long tenure, and serves well as a focus away from life's stresses.
..personal note - Sunday afternoon, Sept. 15th, 1974 - 33 (sometimes very quick / sometimes very long) years back - my path unexpectedly crossed with that of a cute friend from highschool. Coincidence of the right place and time, maybe. Whatever wonderful or rough times we've shared since, we've each been half of a "package deal" for these years...I married her 32 years on June 20th...the strongest of "happy anniversary" wishes are yours, my love, Debbie!

My Interests

the magic of a special moment;

interesting place-spirits - from the heart of a busy city to the solitude of a special landscape (whether a beach, a moody woodland, the wind through the trees, or a wide open mountain or desert scene); good walks/hikes - alone, with my wife, with a friend, with my sons; rainy day people; foggy day moods; historic brick buildings, writing; photography; auto racing (Nascar, F1, Indy & Champ Cars);

a good conversation over a good cup of coffee; an expressive photograph or piece of artwork;

learning something today I could not have known yesterday / discovering something tomorrow I could not have understood or appreciated today.

I'd like to meet:

(1) in general - interesting individuals who bring a special insight or awareness into a conversation, who bring an energy and excitement that is contagious; who can convey a passion about things/events/people in their lives. I enjoy friendships that cross expressive boundaries who convey that strong passion to create.
(2) as a photographer - expressive and creative individuals (models and/or photographers; musicians, dancers, artists) in the SF Bay Area or middle Central Valley, interested in collaborating in camera work; others photographers interested in exploring creative location camera work.
(3) as far any "SPECIAL friend" - I've already met the dearest and closest person/woman in my life - that I want to have in my life: my wife of 31 years, Debbie!
