About Me

Time for a change in what I say:
I am the middle child, the only child, and the youngest child. {Wait what!?} Okay, okay, a little explanation is in order, it would seem. I'm adopted, I know both of my biological parents. On my biological mother's side of things, I'm the middle child {one older, and one younger brother}. Oh my biological father's side of things I am the only child. And in my adopted family, I am the youngest {eight years separates my brother and myself}.
Don't get me wrong, I love being adopted. I wouldn't have had the same opportunities that I've had if I weren't. I wouldn't have the same issues either, but who knows what sort of issues I'd have on the other path. Best to focus on this one, no?
As far as personality goes, I am who I am. Sometimes I'm bouncing off the walls, other times I want nothing more than to curl up and read. I don't know that I fit into one specific category, so we'll just go with "eclectic" for now, shall we?
The theatre has always had a pull for me. I feel very much at home on a stage, or behind it running cues. There's just something about that atmosphere that's wonderful. Maybe it's because it changes with every show, but only so much as to keep it interesting. Maybe it's the sound of the audience and the instant gratification of knowing if they like what they see or not. Maybe it's all of that.
I keep trying to get through school. A class here or there at a time depending on what I can afford and what keeps me interested. Maybe there's something to that ADHD thing after all, even if I don't like the label.
I'm a dreamer, there is no denying that. And those dreams have lead me to some pretty interesting places over the years. Some of them within my own mind, but others still were life-experiences. Auditioning for Who Wants To Be A Superhero Season 2, for example. Flying out to Metropolis, Ill for another. Impulsiveness {oh geeze another ADHD trait.. grr.arg.} plays a major part in a lot of my trips, but that's the way of things. Sometimes you won't get where you want to go if you aren't just a little impulsive.
Sometimes you just have to make your own.

My Interests

Camping; I used to go to a summer camp called SOAR. I swear some of the best summers of my life were spent there. It was filled with rock climbing, white-water rafting, horse back riding, hiking, and the counselors were the kind of people who you remember the rest of your life. They had as much fun as the kids.

Art, I enjoy painting and sketching (I didn't say I was any good at it, I said I enjoyed it). Reading, playing video games, and table-top Dungeons and Dragons, Renaissance Festivals... et more

I'd like to meet:

Patrick Stewart, hands down. Beyond that anyone with a good sense of self. Those who aren't afraid of themselves and self expression. If you're afraid of what other people think of you then you'll live your life miserable. I could throw up a huge list of actors, directors, and writers that I'd sell my left ovary to meet and spend time with, but as you get to know me you'll learn who they are. Barring that, I'm fairly easy to get along with (I think anyway and yes that is a biased opinion). I like most everyone from all walks of life.

Music:

.... Celtic music, show tunes, rock, punk, really a little bit of everything. I'm not overly picky. In my CD player right now, however is the soundtrack to Wicked. For those of you who don't know it, it's a musical based loosely on a book by Gregory Maguire: "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West". Such an awesome book, such an awesome musical score. I haven't had the chance to see it yet, but soon. Or if not soon, eventually... Oh.My.God! It's the hat and everything! "Labyrinth" I believe is a given; honestly who doesn't like that movie? What with all the puppets and Ludo being too adorable for words? "The Last Unicorn" is another favorite. One of the first movies I remember seeing, ever. "Unleashed" is just wonderfully done. There are so many movies out there that I both like and despise it's difficult to name them all. And thus I leave to you to ask me what you will.

Television:

"Law and Order: SVU" is definitely a favorite of mine. I just like the concept behind it, besides that I love who-dun-its. "NCIS" c'mon it's got Pauley Perrette in it! And how can you not like Ducky? The whole collection of CSI's... Yes there are other shows, but I don't get to watch the tube much so.. yeah. I do have Firefly on DVD and adore the show! Here's to hoping someone else picks it up and continues the series. Your results:

Books:

Anything by Gregory Maguire is good as a rule. "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff Christ's Childhood Pal" is hilarious and by Christopher Moore. Call me a child if you will, but I adore Tamora Pierce's "Circle of Magic" and "The Circle Opens" quartets. Katie MacAlister's work is also good, fun reads. As with everything else, I have a wide variety of tastes so ask, strike up a conversation and we'll talk.

Heroes:

Maureen Daly, Big John, Fat Momma, Feedback, Whip-Snap, Thor, Mal, Picard, Yoda, and many many more. There are so many people who have touched my life through their work and words. I only hope that I manage to keep up with them. I'm trying.
