About: GLITTER 4 YOUR SOUL
This record is about an era of music that liberated rock to a new level of social impact and still to this day inflicts its influence on just about everyone who is involved in the ranks of rock and roll knowingly or unknowingly. While bands like the Allman Bros perpetuated the image of hippie rock, a fresh new breed of artists like David Bowie arrived on the scene and delivered fresh personifications of rock and roll that would forever change the world of rock music. With its gender-bending, screamingly new look and sound, it formally challenged the dull, heroin-inspired Hippie Rock movement.
I, for my part, was transcended from a bored suburban teenager to a new level of sensory influx the night I witnessed a then little-known Alice Cooper perform "Under My Wheels" on Midsummer Night's Rock Concert. As it turned out, Alice Cooper was not another bra-less folkie chick playing acoustic guitar. What smacked me in the face that cathartic evening was a guy with long black stringy hair, makeup, silver evening gloves up to his elbows and a seven-foot boa constrictor wrapped around his neck singing a song about running someone over in his car. Alice's namesake had been burned at the stake for being a witch in the 1600s. My life would never be the same.
Glitter was definitely my music. I was happily mentored
by bands like Kiss, Bowie, New York Dolls, The Sweet, Starz, Angel,
Gary Glitter, Japan, Mott the Hoople, the Runaways and a slew of others.
This
is a salute, not a re-invention. My commitment was to record a broad
range of Glitter music with today's tools. Not re-invent it with today's
tools. It's simply my attempt to keep the music alive.
These are the songs that stuck to the walls of my brain like heavy cigar smoke in a nightclub and will certainly gloriously provide the Glitter For Your Soul.
