About Me

Click to zoom in on my visitor map!
I'm a displaced Leprechaun, who looks like a gorilla, trying to find my pot of gold! I've trained as a Veterinary Surgeon, Tourist Guide, Estate Agent, Film Director and Actor. At present I'm writing books, making films and trying to complete an English degree majoring in Russian Literature - try and figure that one out !?!My most recent book 'Bo-Kaap: Colourful Heart of Cape Town", was launched on 9th February. I managed to persuade the Mayor of Cape Town to come along and speak. My previous book was on Indigenous African Knowledge & Customs, called 'AFRICA...Speaking with Earth & Sky'. I was honoured to have the President of South Africa write the forward and it was chosen as one of South Africa's publisher's choice titles. On the film front I'm directing a few Music videos with South African Bands, and making some local documentaries. I want at some stage to go back to Uganda/Rwanda/Congo and make a film about the plight of the pygmies. It is commercial season in Cape Town, so I've been acting in a load of local and International TV commercials - including a clothing commercial for Otto (German TV) cream for Avonmore (Irish TV) chocolate for Wedel (Poland) and ADT security (UK).My life is all about the people I meet and the places I go; Life is here for the living so I'm determined to suck the marrow out of it. In 2005 I visited Barvaria, Austria, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Kenya and Uganda doing research for films and or books. I met several Shaman in Peru that had a pretty dramatic effect. I'm just back from a trip through Holland, Italy and Switzerland. Next major trip is to Canada. I basically make life up as I go along, so I'm constantly in the process of Transformation. The the next time you read this, I may be someone completely different!!!

My Interests

Adventure - give me a ticket to somewhere exciting and I'm gone! White water rafting down the Zambezi, climbing Kilamanjaro, sailing in a Dhow off Zanzibar, game treking in Kenya, hugging gorillas in Uganda, hiking to Machu Picchu, tangoing in Buenos Aires, sking in Austria or partying all night in Barcelona...the list goes on. I believe strongly in animal welfare alongside human rights issues & I am very interested in the cultures and beliefs of indigenous peoples throughout the world. I'm a keen photographer, and have had photos published in various magazines. In 2005 I did Press photography for the Mandela 46664 concert in South Africa, and got to meet Nelson Mandela, Annie Lennox, Will Smith and the members of Queen amongst others. Also do sports photography, I enjoy sport - I rowed for my University team the year we won the University Hospitals Cup. Also do archery, rock climbing and have been known to surf, and scuba dive although with all the sharks around the South African coast I'll leave that to the fish.
