Formed in 1999, The Phobia is a raw, underground crew straight from the streets of Leytonstone, East London (A.K.A- Arkham Asylum). The Phobia consists of 6 mc's with different styles & flows, 3 off whom produce the beats; always staying true to the art of hip-hop and to the streets where they grew up. Dark and sinister tracks alongside hip-hop bangers; people will be shook when they hear the material about to drop.
'Keep It Moving' dropped on Bare Records at the end of 2004 and was received well by the underground hip-hop heads. The video was well received on Channel U and is still on sale throughout Europe & Japan. The Phobia performed at the 2005 UK Hip-Hop Awards and regularly perform at shows & squat raves throughout the East End.
The Phobia have been working on separate projects recently but still operate under the collective title - The Phobia Famillia. Smokey recently released a 7", 'Road Zombies', which is available now from Bare Records. The 'Arkham Asylum' mix cd is still being recorded and will be dropping soon. It will include a host of releases from the Phobia crew and their associates.
The Phobia's style is dark, unapologetic and underground with beats that will break ya neck and send shivers down your spine whilst their deep lyrics give you a twisted glimpse into the world of this young crew. They are here to make underground classics and that?s what they will be doing for the next couple of decades to come.
