I wanted to thank everyone for checking out and supporting my creativity! For those of you interested in what creates these dark themes and ideas... I'm very pissed off at the world, if you haven't gathered that already. I'm vegan, an animal rights activist, and heavy supporter of most organizations that try to make this world a better place for our sentient beings. SGI is a release of angst and horror at what I've witnessed in today's fucked up society. Animals are not ours to eat, torture, or experiment on! If you believe differently, Karma will eventually give you your just dues. :) I am a worshipper of the earth; wiccan/pagan, and welcome all who see the darkness that broods within us all, and embraces it. This life is just one piece to our spiritual enhancement.... take advantage of it, don't waste it on monotonous dribble. Do what thou wilt, an it hurt no other. Love is the Law, Love under Will. Blessed Be.
- Gelal
Created as a fleeting idea in 1989, Stained Glass Incubus was inspired from Skinny Puppy's "Too Dark Park" Tour. In awe of the marriage of theatrics and soul pounding music that resounded throughout the converted hotel, once known as Hell's Kitchen in South Miami Beach, Florida. Gelal aka Raven found it in his destiny to recreate that same evening for generations to come of industrial and darkwave fans alike.
Although consumed with the desire, and full of determination, Gelal was not raised or schooled in the fine arts of musical creation and the musical sessions that began, quickly faded away into the abysmal depths of lost dreams. So, it is said that many songs were created, but never became known to anyone but Gelal in his own personal thoughts. The concerts and music lived only in his head and dreams, never to be shared or enjoyed. Years had passed for Gelal as he attended the many concerts that had originally sparked the morbid desire.
As time went by, two events in 1995 created an inferno of emotion and sadness within Gelal's creative mind. A long respected and idolized influence had suddenly evaporated into the abyss. Skinny Puppy, perhaps the most important and influential electronic industrial band in history - had split up and called it quits on June 12th. Then shortly after, on August 23rd, Skinny Puppy's Dwayne Goettel died of a heroin overdose at his parent's home in Edmonton, AB. Upon hearing the news through an email, Gelal realized that he would never be able to relive the magic that was the Skinny Puppy concerts of that time, except in his own mind full of incredible feelings that were generated from the theatrical showcase that Skinny Puppy was known for. And now the era relives in Stained Glass Incubus.
Soul scorching beats, ethereal grooves, and angry lyrics will shed enveloping darkness into the ideals of sociological normality. Recording began in 2000 as Gelal learned to master the many machines and creativity he now utilizes and expands upon. Hundreds of gigs were recorded and kept in backup drives still to this day. The music and intricacy has evolved and becomes better with every session that is applied. One day, against his better wishes, we may have the opportunity to see what is truly in his mind by listening to the days of yore when he would lock himself up in his micro studio and work for endless hours, creating and learning every step of the way. For now, we are blessed with the few tracks that have been distributed from the archives and newly created songs added regularly to the repertoire. Tinny and unremastered as most older demos are, we can see where the evolution begets better and clearer tracks as time goes on.
New releases are coming and will be available via CD-R! Live shows, just around the corner. We have waited years for the resurgence of orgasmic live performances, and if you could see what I see, the anticipation would kill you. :)
