Lucinda Williams meets Sinead O'Connor

About Me

Accolades:
2007 Winner: Sterling Sound's Emerging Artist Player; New York, NY. www.sterlingsound.com
2006 Chosen Writer: ASCAP Expo 2006. One of 12 writers chosen for ASCAP's pop-rock listening panel. Los Angeles, CA.
Bio:
Christine Cochran is a singer, writer, guitar player, fine artist, and raconteur.
She "wrote" her first song at age four and later learned guitar in fifth grade. An unfortunately long hiatus ensued, but songs eventually incubated and arrived as she gleaned life experience in Los Angeles, Manhattan, Nashville, and London (where she gleefully lived over a former debtor's prison). Christine eventually returned to her hometown of Dallas, Texas where she now resides for no particular reason.
Moving with her family several times, young Christine often felt the loneliness and isolation of being the "asthmatic-new-kid-at-school." But the outsider grew into an astute observer and natural storyteller whose songs focus on the human condition, touching on alienation and acceptance, love and longing, materialism and modesty.
Of her songwriting, Warner Bros.' A&R rep Andy Oliphant says "I think (she) does have something to say," while Eric Bazilian (The Hooters, Joan Osborne, Cyndi Lauper) said of her song Burbank, "it's a gem of a song. I understand exactly what (she) did."
Her instinctive pop writing talent marries an indie flair, and yields pleasing melodies, beautiful harmonies, and intelligent lyrics. She delivers her songs confidently with a soulful voice "full of feeling and beauty*" *(LA recording artist, Rane).
Fans liken Christine's distinct vocal style to that of Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Emmylou Harris, and Eddie Brickell. She is very proud that two guys even said she reminded them of Lou Reed and Robert Smith (The Cure).
Tom Sime, former Dallas Morning News critic says, "she's a cross between Lucinda Williams and Sinead O'Connor.”
An avid reader, Christine has a history degree, a recording industry degree, and part of a master's in technical writing.
Christine is on the precipice of releasing her eagerly anticipated debut CD, "Someone I'll Never Meet."
The full production features ten original cuts ranging in content from a sparsely-arranged psychological portrait of the fallen, to an up-tempo song about a transgender man finding acceptance.
