About me... Recently Married to Kristi (see pic below), she puts up with me & my ways, & likes Merle Haggard so I believe shes a keeper! ha ha. I guess you could describe me as part VA Coal Miner.. Part Country musician... Part Tennessean... & 1st & foremost... Im a Christian... And as ODD as it may sound... a Honky Tonker.. ha ha.. I love good Honky Tonk music & playing live... It just makes me tick

My roots hail from the deep dark Mountains of Eastern Virginia (Big Rock & Grundy, VA)... Coal Mining Country... My granparents & great grandparents were all coal miners...My grandpa Paul Elswick of Big Rock,VA has been a big part of the coal mining industry... Its a different world there... Very interesting.... Almost "gloomy" dark feeling sometimes hangs over those mountains.. yet people find happiness there... Most people born in those mountains never make it out & don't really even see a way to get out.
Great music roots generates from that region & my ancestry... I have music on both sides so I guess thats where it gets in me... In Virginia, My great grandmother was a great banjo player, so was my grandfather... On saturday nights everyone headed to the end of the holler to my grandmothers house.. moved all the furniture out of the living room & had a big shin-dig.. My Grandfather in Tennessee is a great oldschool country guitar player as well as my great grandfather in Tennessee played banjo.
I was never pushed to play music.. i naturally progressed to it... And have truly followed in their footsteps. Primarily playing country music I have made my way around a lot of the barn parties & dance halls in eastern tennesse & Georgia... Now performing with my band "Hillbilly Deluxe"
We play mostly Merle Haggard, George Jones, Hank Jr., Skynyrd, Paycheck, Waylong, etc etc... REAL COUNTRY & southern rock.
I come from a long line of Coal Miners & Country Music musicians so I just cant help myself!... Its in me...
