About Me

At the end of the year of 2006 there were 836,131 missing person records in the National Crime Information Center's Missing Person File. 30% of the missing was black. Unfortunately for the last several years, there has been inaccurate coverage for missing persons of a certain demographic.
Don't believe me? Find out for yourself. Go to Google.com and type in "Latoyia Figueroa" and then "Laci Peterson". Compare the number of results and ask yourself "Why did one recieve more attention than the other?" Maybe you say that race was not a factor. You're right - it might not be but who is to say that it isn't?
Both women were pregnant but one was black and the other was white. Latoyia went missing a couple years later after Laci, but why was she not covered as much considering her condition and considering what happened to Laci?
We may never know the answer in those two cases, but we do know this: Sometimes we have to be our own media and do the reporting ourselves. The media only covers what they feel is "relevant" but in reality every missing person is just as important as the next. Hence, the start of Black and Missing but Not Forgotten . This blog is dedicated to all the missing black women, children and men who do not get the exposure they deserve in the media. I created this myspace page as an extension to that.
So take a look around, add me as a friend, subscribe to my blog by email and pass the news on. If you was missing, wouldn't you want someone to know? God bless :)

BLACK WOMAN MISSING ( dedicated to Latasha Norman ) written in anger by George L. Cook III November 23, 2007 www.letstalkhonestly.com
I am a black woman missing
Why don't you talk about me? Don't you care where I might be? Am I the wrong color to have my story on TV?
What's wrong? I'm not pretty, white and rich? I guess that to you I'm just some poor black .....
Why don't you talk about me? Don't you care where I might be? Am I the wrong color to have my story on TV.
Why don't I get air time? Is it the fact that I don't have naturally straight hair? Is is that America isn't interested? Is it that America just doesn't care?
Why don't you talk about me? Don't you care where I might be? Am I the wrong color to have my story on TV.
I may still be alive! Someone may have seen me! Maybe they would remember If they saw my face on TV!
So ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, FOX News Why don't you talk about me?! Don't you care where I might be?! Am I the wrong color to have my story on TV?!
I am a black woman missing! Please talk about me! Help America find me! PUT MY STORY ON TV!
