Motstraums was founded and released in order to build sounds around Norwegian nature, culture and tradition. Motstraums can be translated to upstreams or "against the stream".Motstraums’ music must be understood in the context of woods, mountains, water, summer, autumn, winter and fall. The history of the Norwegian people, stretching from the first settlers to the start of the Danish rule in Norway, is also a great source of music making.It is not Motstraums mission to romanticise about i.e. Norse heathenism, but rather to make a musical interpretation of it.The sound strives after the organically sounding waves and Motstraums’ sounds have never attempted to reach more than a handful of listeners.
