Still on the journey!

About Me

I'm an artist/musician. I draw and paint, love oils, pastels, and doing portraits. Been doing it as far back as I can remember. Enjoy just about any subject, but really love drawing and painting people. I'm also an ol folk singer. Made my living mainly playing around the Dallas, Fort Worth, and Austin area as far back as the late 60's. Played the clubs, college circut, and even some concerts. Lived in Austin off and on in the early to mid 70's. Tried some parts of California, but the people weren't near as friendly as the folks I knew and met in Texas. It's home after all. I really miss Austin the way it was. Since the tech movement took over Austin, it's just not the same. Way too many people. Loved it when it was just a great college town, just full of us ol hippies and artist, and musicians. These days I seem to be more focused on my art and music, not so much running around as I did when I was much younger. I still love playing the clubs. With the art and the music, the head space is similar, but very different. It gives me a reason to get up in the morning...

My Interests

As I said above, I love art, music, my children -(John, Davin {Missy Child}, Chris, and my grandson Bryson, and new grandson Ashton, under "pics and top friends"), dogs, cats, The Beatles, the sky, ocean, and of course the mountains. I was a digitizer in the embroidery industry for 17 years or so. Got burned out! Now I just try to stay in the "now". I meditate at least 30 minutes a day, and honestly try to look at life for what it truly is, a gift, not to be wasted.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who is into the arts and music. I have a tendency to look at life from a spiritual perspective. Someone who loves people and life. That's it in a nut shell. And as far as women, if one happened to come along, I'd prefere one who is self confident, self assured, knows who she is, and who is not overly possessive or jealous. Loves laughter. Someone who is mature, who isn't weighed down by past relationships, and actually likes men. Someone who can give and receive trust freely. An artist would be great, or someone who has love for the arts. An animal lover is a plus. I'd love someone who's into health, and takes care of themselves both spiritually and physically. I'm finding as I'm getting older I'm really enjoying life and all the experiences it has to offer. Not all in life always feels good, but everything teaches and gives back. Life is precious, and am looking for Someone who knows it is, and respects the time we've been given to live and experience this ride called life.

Music:

I love the Beatles, Spirit, The Rolling Stones, Donovan Leitch, Tony Joe White, Gordon Lightfoot, Joan Baez, Neil Diamond, Jann Arden, Sarah McLachlan, Willie Nelson, The Youngbloods, Cityview (my son's band), Tommy Lee, Bob Schneider, Stephen Bruton, Van Morrison, Chicago Transit Authority, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmie Vaughn, Eric Clapton, BB King, Albert King, Led Zeppelin, Robben Ford and the Thin Blue Line, Bon Jovi, Guy Sebastian, Shannon Noll, Anthony Callea, Bo Bice, Bernard Fanning, Clare Bowditch, Clay Aiken, Stevie Wonder, Eva Cassidy, Josh Groban, Jimi Hendrix, The Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Eric Johnson, Ben Folds, Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Sammie Davis Junior, Tom Jones, Dean Martin, Rolling Stones, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Joni Mitchell, David Cassidy, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Sting, Classical Music, Violin, Albert King, Janis Joplin, Robert Cray, Bobby Darin, Elvis Presley, Doris Day, Freddie King, Andrea Bocelli, etc. I love just about all types of music. I'm not stuck on just one, love a little of them all.

Drawing too many blanks.

Television:

These days I really don't watch that much TV. But I do watch "24", Grey's Anatomy, CSI, American Idol, Australian Idol-(via-BitTorrent), Lost, Desperate Housewives, ER, and Seinfeld reruns when I get a chance. I didn't watch it when it aired, but bought the DVD's to "Dawson's Creek", all six seasons. I really enjoyed it!

Oh, Jerry Lewis, wow!!!..
