Steeler For Life

About Me

I love to eat! I don't like my food too complicated, but always with fresh, high quality ingredients. I have two favorites: Japanese food - it's clean, neatly arranged, healthy, and is viewed as a form of art; My other favorite is homestyle, southern cooking (like my mom's), but for completely different reasons - I still like my food neatly arranged (which is hard to get in some southern households - and don't you dare complain!), but the taste of fat and oil and butter just can't be beat. Fried chicken, candied yams, snap beans, pork chops, silver corn right out of the garden, homemade biscuits - Oh my god, I think I'm going to pass out with desire!

My Interests

I love anything associated with history or the future. I love anything that involves sex, as long as it's legal and no one gets hurt. And, of course, I love records and the people that spin them. Also I'm the second biggest Steeler fan in the world - my sister is the biggest, but don't tell her I admitted to it.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet more people who think all commercial radio in this country sucks, and who believe that "must see t.v." must be avoided at all costs. I'd like to meet more people who understand that voting is a technicality (albeit necessary), and that how you spend your money is really what makes the difference in this "democratic" government of ours. I'd like to meet more people who have fewer hangups and more hangouts. I'd like to meet more people who feel that the way the average American (for example) lives on a day-to-day basis is unsubstainable by this planet earth over the next 50 years. I'd like to meet more people who don't mind getting naked at a party - especially if a pool or hot tub is invovled. I'd like to meet more people like me.

Music:

Here we go with this again...Moodyman (shut up, Kraze), The Police, Peter Tosh, Gilles Peterson, Stevie Wonder, John Coltrane, Roy Ayers, Massive Attack, Groove Armada, The Isley Bros., Jimi Hendrix, Everything But The Girl, Roberta Flack, Joni, Mitchell, Pat Metheney, Mary McPartland, The Roots, The Clash, King Tubby, Johnny Cash, Grand Funk Railroad, The Beastie Boys, Roni Size, Nitin Sahney, Jerry Reed, Santana, Thievery Corp., Eric B. & Rakim, Aaron Copeland, John Lee Hooker, Patsy Cline, Earth Wind & Fire, Van Morrison, The Cure, Grand Master Flash & The Furious Five, Shalamar, Thin Lizzy, The Staple Singers, The Clark Sisters, Isaac Hayes, Hall & Oats, Tower Of Power, Daft Punk, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Ian Pooly, Jazzanova, Waylon Jennings, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Men At Work, Parliment/Funkadelic, Bootsy Baby!, Everybody at OM Records, Frankie Knuckles, The Avalanches, Killing Heidi, The Pogues, The Black Eyed Peas - until they sold out!, Kurtis Blow, Tortured Soul, The Veldt/Apollo Heights, The boys at Radical Nine Productions, Mandrill, The Rotary Connection, Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions, The Specials, The English Beat, Slave, Roger Troutman & Zapp, The Marshall Tucker Band, Francois K., Danny Krivit, Joe Claussel, Nina Simone, Thelonious Monk, Fishbone, Miles, St. Germain, Masters At Work, Overproof, Eric Dolphy, Mark Grant, Elizabeth Cotten, Jelly Roll Morten, Sam Cooke, Nightmares On Wax, Skyy, Change, G.Q., Squarepusher, FischerSpooner, The Countdown Quartet, Mosadi Music, Don Cherry, Andreas Vollenwieder, Okay Temiz, The Greatest Hits, Foreign Exchange, Sonny Rollins,CAN, Maceo Parker & The CPB Band, Alphas Wear Grey, Nat King Cole, Rick James-BITCH!!!

Movies:

Anything starring Jim Kelly.

Television:

Frontline is the BEST show on t.v. However I can get down with a little Law & Order every now and then. Other than that most t.v. is crap - unless it's playoff time. Of course you gotta give props to The Simpson's, The Chappelle Show, and shit like that - anything that makes fun of "the man".

Books:

Read "A Severe Mercy" by Sheldon Vanauken, and I dare you not to cry!

Heroes:

Me Moms.
