Musical Soul

About Me

Musician residing in Philly ..... holding down the groove in a variety of projects .... interested in making the most of the world around me.
Have shared the stage with Talib Kweli, Bustah Rhymes, The Wailers, Arrested Developement, Jurassic 5, and The Roots .... among others. I'm currently holding down the bottom end for a top notch National tribute to the 90's Seattle scene called "No Alternative." The past year has found me performing with Laura Cheadle, Jolejnik, Fuzzy Bunny Slippers, The Likely, Go Go Gadjet, Nowhere Slow, 5%, Browntown and the newly renovated ReMIXDT ... and wherever the VW wants to roll.I myself have been playing professionally for 15 years, in a variety of situations over most of the East coast. I've been the house bassist at The Rec Room Studio, recording with a eclectic blend of artists. Among my faves are Jolejnik whose spiritually eclectic approach to music never ceases to excite those involved in the creative process.
I am an Ashdown Artist, this British Amplification company knows how to create tone. You can view me at www.ashdownmusic.com/artist. Any other necessary info can be found on my homepage www.ignatiousbass.com
I have studied in Philadelphia with Steve Beskrone, a master's class guru from the UofA. He has also toured with Pat Martino and did a stint with a cat named Ray Charles. I myself have begun teaching and any interested can contact me here for more info.
Life's great mystery is what we have ahead of us. Music, however, and the continued pursuit of that passionate, yet enraging, mistress is where you will find yours truly.

My Interests

Music, film, reading (should time allow), experimentation on all fronts

I'd like to meet:

Like minded individuals that seek more than the norm, and those in need of an experienced pro-bassist in any setting, schedule permitting (references include "Nowhere Slow, "Go Go Gadjet" "Jugdish", The Likely, Fuzzy Bunny Slippers)....I have begun accepting students in the Reading, Philadelphia and Scranton areas as I will be instructing in each of those locales once a week. Spots are filling up, any interest drop me a line right here....also those that truly inspire. They are harder to find than you would ever believe ....

Music:

Oh so varied .... mostly dependant upon mood. Herbie to Hanoi Rocks ....A few specific albums would be:The Cult "Electric" Herbie Hancock "Thrust" "Headhunters" Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" Stevie Wonder "Songs in the Key of Life" Pink Floyd "The Final Cut" The Cure "Disintegration" Stones "Sticky Fingers" Allman Brothers "Back Where It All Begins"

Movies:

Actually review films for an independant weekly. Most current Hollywood crap is just that .... crap.Guilty pleasures .... Star Wars 1-6Jaws, Signs, The Birdcage, The Fifth Element, The Life Aquatic, Ed Wood, No Country for Old Men, any Kubrick flick if for no other reason than all the glorious sound and space ..... personal favesBest films in recent memory .... The Darjeeling Limited,There Will Be Blood, Into the Wild

Television:

If it weren't for "Comedy Central" "The Cartoon Network's Adult Swim" "Some Discovery Network / Food Network" and "30 Rock" it would be a TOTALLY useless piece of technology.

Books:

Stephen King's "The Stand" Daniel DeFoe"Robinson Crusoe" Jonathan Franzen "The Corrections" Ann Patchett "Bel Canto" Cormac McCarthy "The Road"

Heroes:

My Kids and anyone that understands that animals have as much a right to this planet as we do.
