Demetrias Dale Charles was born in 1973 in Beaumont, Texas, but grew up on the mean streets of Los Angeles, California. He became a “street pharmacist” which almost lead to his demise at the hands of the Los Angeles Police Department. This experience changed him for the better. Now living in Houston, Texas, this hard-working young man is on a mission to save other young men from the street life in general and the gang life in particular. .. Excerpt from my book: I sat there, scared and thinking that I might die in the bushes. I began to hear police radios in the vicinity and I noticed a police helicopter hovering above me circling the neighborhood. Above the police helicopter, there was another one belonging to Channel 2 News that was trying to get the scoop. Then I noticed SWAT teams on every rooftop in the neighborhood. They were even on top of the roof of the house that I was hiding behind. The officers were in all-black and wearing bulletproof clothing from head to toe, along with their bulletproof shields and assault weapons. As the law-enforcement officers from the 77th division precinct and Southwest police station were collaborating together to set up their parameters to close in on me, I was hoping like hell that they wouldn’t find me regardless of what I thought o the leash and then I heard one of the officers say on his walkie talkie that they were going to take the pursuit to the next backyard and that the search turned out negative. At that moment, I was thanking Jesus that they were about to leave. But then all of a sudden, one of the officers yelled “Come out of the bushes and you won’t get hurt. You have 10 seconds to comply!”
