Formed in late 2005 Sidestep Switchblades (formally 'Roses For the Dead') have been gigging constantly ever since....
Hailing from Cumbria this 5 piece screamo/metal band give their all into every performace they do. Formed through their love of music, and the want to give good music to the lacking Cumbrian scene, Sidestep Switchblades are a band to be taken seriously.
Watch out for this band, because they're going to rock your socks off.

Roses for the Duke
Newspaper review October 2006
CHARISMA is the first word that comes to mind when you meet and watch Roses for the Dead on stage.Energy is the second one. The lead singer, Ky Wilson throws himself around the stage like nothing else matters, and has the front man skills to rival that of Matt Tuck from Bullet for My Valentine. The whole band ooze intensity and it's only when you meet them you fully understand the full extent of their passion for the band. They are all in college (but are very keen not to be known as a 'college band') so various part time jobs and payment from gigs fund their tours up and down the country. Glasgow, Manchester and Workington to name but a few have had the pleasure.
Their screamo-esque sound is reminiscent of Funeral for a Friend mixed with old Avenged Sevenfold material and for a band that doesn't like doing covers their version of FFAF's 'This Years Most Open Heartbreak' is absolutely amazing.
The band who I caught live at the duke have see a number of changes since last September when they formed.Wilson is the only original member, and they admit to having had only one practice this summer. Then on stage the hold the crowd's attention expertly, and refuse to let it go, even throughout what Wilson introduces as a ballad, Last Man Standing.
Roses for the Dead are definatley worth a listen, and between the ages of 17 and 19 have an amazing amount of talent for ones so young.
