The GandhiBand orginally formed as a mild mannered three piece (Gilly, Dan and Arran) in the summer of 2004. However, the true nature of The GandhiBand has only recently been realised after the band aquired a second (but by many measures first) guitarist, Matt, in June '05.Since Matt's inclusion, the band has gone from strength to strength, their style changing dramatically; from a once acoustic-based trio, to a four-piece, heavy rock outfit. Their material now sounds like a band paying homage to the forgotten rock and grunge lords of the ninties. Uncontented with hopping aboard the Kaiser/Ferdinand shitrock bandwagon, the Gandhi Boys have captured the imagination of a loyal and steadily growing fan base. All those children of the nineties who remember how good it was the first time they heard Pearl Jam's 'Alive' or Soundgarden's 'Black Hole Sun' will find some comfort in the music this band is producing. However, this is not to say that the material is unoriginal, in fact, the GandhiBand's style is quite unique: a seering coupling of heavy rock riffs and screams interspersed by gentle, uplifting, melodic verses, spliced with modernistic and jagged technical time arrangements, make this band worthy of greater things. In many ways this band is at the forefront of a new-wave grunge movement. Whether or not the public decides to ride this wave alongside them remains to be seen.In the short term, the GandhiBand plans to release a new shiny E.P. within the next 2 months (which will be available for purchase at forthcoming gigs). Some new tracks, from a subsidiary recording session, should be online and available for download soon.Watch this space.Support your local GandhiBand.
