NEW ALBUM TO BE RELEASED IN JANUARY 2007!Bass-player from Gothenburg!Currently touring to support the release of the second album with my band DREAMLAND!Also playing bass in Spanish/Swedish band SANDALINAS!
Defined myself as a Metalfan when I saw Thin Lizzy on Swedish Television in 1978. Previous idols were Sweet, Slade and Kiss. The early 80..s then saw the boom of the NWOBHM and I spent all my money on the bands within that movement: Samson, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Diamond Head among others. Also listened a lot to Budgie, Riot, old Rainbow, Accept, German band VIVA, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Mercyful Fate and Scorpions. Metal for me started to be a way of life in 82 I guess, it was what defined me at 15 years of age. Heavy Metal for me was Band T-shirts, Denim-Vest with band patches, long greasy hair and dirty Jeans. I started reading KERRANG at No 20 and remember picking up all the new bands in there: Raven, Venom, Tygers Of Pan Tang, Twisted Sister and many more. The next milestone for me was, I think KERRANG No 42 or 44, there was a report on Metal from the states, Especially LA, and Heeey these guys looked coooool. Black n..Blue, WASP, Warlord, Armored Saint and a bunch of others were covered in that report! Good looking, tanned guys with huge hair and specially-designed clothing. From that day on I defined myself more with the likes of Ratt, Dokken, Mötley Crüe (though I had already seen them in 83 but didn..t really care) swedish look-alikes Treat, Europe……..and later on Stryper, Loudness, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Danger Danger you name it! I also started playing bass myself in different local bands, all within the melodic side of metal. And Hey was this a great time to be a metal musician or not?? All the babes loved this kind of music back then!!! I got my new second favourite interest besides music!! Went to LA in 92 and thought I..d gone to Heaven. Rainbow Bar, Gazarris, Whisky A-go-Go WOW!!And then…….Grunge…..and it all ended so suddenly!!??? The 90..s was a rough time, confusing, I still loved my old Stryper LP:s, but who cared? Who would prodly announce that he loved Europe?? NoOne!! So I found new favourite musical styles to listen to. I had always loved Mercyful Fate/King Diamond and listened to heavier stuff like Venom in the early 80..s (got “Black Metal†for Christmas from my mom in -82) so I started listening to the Heavier stuff: Obituary, Deicide and especially doomy death like Cathedral….but it never gave me that 80..s Rush. Also listened a lot to MegaDeth, Dream Theater and even some Black Metal during those Years. (I still think that “The Somberlain†by Dissection is absolutely stunning)By the end of the 90..s it all began to come back though, that old melodic metal. In a faster form referred to as “Power Metalâ€, but it was the same riffs again, I was finally happy again musically!! This is were I wanted to be!! Today many of my household names in the 80..s have made comebacks or at least the have gotten back their cred, please let it be that way!Mat Saint is endorsed by: ...... ..This profile was edited with MySpace Profile Editor MySpace Profile Editor
