"All rock n' roll was meant to be fun, pure and simple, that's the bottom
line," says vocalist/bassist Mini Mendez, in describing the vibe of The Glimmer Stars. "The four of us (Mendez, along with bandmates Mark Schrock, Howie Miller, and Tony Snow) are really hopeless romantics, just slightly jaded I guess".
After landing on a couple of compilation discs - Turn The Dial (Radio Beat), IPO Vol. 6 (Not Lame), the Stars delivered their full-length debut LP
in the Summer of 2005. Paced by day glo songcraft and the production skills
of OC pop/twang maven Walter Clevenger, the self-titled effort turned out to be a thirty minute,
eleven song, energetic and infectious declaration of power pop, that was both
sweet and tough. Later that year, the band dropped a tune - "Rollers Show" - on Lowe Profile: A Tribute To Nick Lowe (Brewery Records) that showcased their fondness for all things that rock and glitter. The Stars are currently recording their follow-up release, once again with Walter Clevenger at the controls.
-A Southern California band who came highly recommended by the estimable Walter
Clevenger, who was wowed after seeing one of their live performances. Power
pop all the way, with a modern spin. Their leader has one of the coolest names
in popdom: Mini Mendez!
