CALL TO ACTION
Join Local Groups And Citizens World Wide Rallying To End the Iraq War
Wednesday, March 19, 2008:
* 11:00am to 1:00pm, rally outside Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite's office, Hernando County Courthouse, 20 North Main Street, Brooksville, FL
* 4:00pm-6:00pm, rally outside Senator Bill Nelson's office, Federal Courthouse, 801 N Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL
On March 19, 2003 the United States launched an illegal and unjust war against the sovereign nation of Iraq. This war has killed more than 1,000,000 Iraqi men, women, and children by some estimates, and has displaced more than 4,000,000. Almost 4,000 American soldiers have lost their lives, and at minimum 29,000 have been injured in an occupation that has lasted longer than World War II, and could end up bankrupting the United States with an estimated cost of over $2 trillion.
Around 70% of Americans agree we must end this war, yet most of our elected officials are turning a blind eye to the wishes of the American majority and the plight of all Iraqis. It is our duty as citizens of the United States to demand an end to the war and occupation of Iraq.
We Must Act Now
Join groups and individual citizens from greater Tampa Bay as we rally in the streets/speak with government officials and media in solidarity with citizens across the country and around the globe on this tragic 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. We'll be mourning the dead, wounded, and displaced, and demanding an end the war with two different actions, on in Brooksville, FL and the other in Tampa, FL (see the original site for links to the maps).

ABOUT US

St Pete for Peace is a non-partisan, grassroots, anti-war organization that was founded in January 2003 during the build-up to the war on Iraq. We meet weekly to denounce war, occupation, imperialism and the injustices facing fellow Americans.

St Pete for Peace is committed to promoting peace, and we believe that:

* The wars and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan are illegal and immoral, and we must immediately withdraw all troops, military bases, mercenaries, embassies, administrators, and corporate interests from both countries.

* We denounce all U.S. aggression towards Syria, Iran, Venezuela and Cuba, and demand that the U.S. stop supporting the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

* In order to stop blowback on American interests we must change our foreign policy, mainly, our government must stop dictating to other countries how to live and govern their own people. A "non American" way of life is just as important as an "American" way of life. Self-determination is a fundamental right of all.

* We are losing our freedoms and democracy - one way to combat this is to become involved and make our voices heard. We must continue to resist in the most non-violent means possible.

I'd like to meet:
