Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1974, Dj Joe-Joe grew up around both his parents, who at that time, were both Dj's themselves of disco and funk music of the 60's and 70's. Although they were only local Dj's in Brooklyn, they both served as an early influence for his love of all kinds of music.During the mid 80's, as he grew up in South Brooklyn he has always found a way to keep himself surrounded by music by going to clubs (or sneaking in when he was still underage) and through dancing because he was an avid fan of hip-hop and house music. In 1992 his love for music, dancing and clubs naturally set him toward the next step in his life, which was to Dj at some of the New York City clubs that he frequently went to. He started to spin house music and his dreams came true in late 1992-early 1993 when he became a resident Dj in the rotation at the legendary NASA party (held every Friday at The SHELTER, Now called VINYL) spinning house music. This is also the location where he came into contact with other inner city kids and dj's who shared the same love of music and parties; they came together to form DIGITAL KONFUSION KRU. Who have now started a company, which produces events, clothing, their own music and other services in the scenes they're involved in.Throughout the 90's to now he has held residencies, with some of the crew members, as well as alone, in some of the most legendary and known clubs in New York City such as; TUNNEL, PALLADIUM, ROXY, LIMELIGHT, CHAOS, CARBON and many others. He also makes guest appearances internationally in Austria, England, Spain, and the Ukraine, as well as other countries throughout western Europe and continues to do so now.Joe-Joe’s next progression as a Dj was to produce music so he learned how to work with studio recording equipment by interning and working at many studios. He has worked with DJ Dmitri at Sampladelic Studios; where he produced a house remix for Ziggy Marley (the Power to Move Ya') on Elektra Records. He has also worked at studios like 36 Chambers, Liquid Sky Studios and others, which has given him exposure to a wide range of music types that he likes to produce. He has a number of hip-hop productions (done by the DRUNKEN HOODLUMZ w/ Joe-Joe, DJ I-CUE and Jan). He is still producing all types of music when he is not out DJ-ing.Dj Joe-Joe loves to spin and produce music. He produces music in order to spin more because he feels there are too many big producers, which call themselves Dj’s that have „no skills behind the turntables“ and get too much money for no quality or love for that part of the music. His goal is to show that he has a love for all aspects of music: production, spinning, event co-ordination and dancing.
