About Me
Odyssey, born and raised in Manhattan on the Upper East Side of Spanish
Harlem, began spinning 23 years ago and has been producing for 12 years. His
musical background is deeply rooted from the sounds of Disco, R & B, Soul,
Funk, Jazz and Latin music. In the beginning of 1983 through 1984, he became
more focused towards DJing. Throughout this point in time, Odyssey found
himself getting into various forms of music from going to different clubs
and checking out the new sound.
As time progressed through the mid 80's into the early 90's, he started
getting booked for private functions and small venues. During his clubbing
ventures, he found himself going to a weekly party at "The Shelter" called
NASA. It was here where he occasionally played in the chill-out room
alongside his brother I-Cue . One night while
playing in the chill-out room, he met a group of club kids sharing the same
love for electronic music.
The bond that he shared with these kids eventually lead into forming a crew of DJs / Artists and dancers which went by the name of " Digital Konfusion ".
Since his collaboration with them, Odyssey has traveled across the U.S.playing venues
in states such as Philly, North Carolina, Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, Washington DC, Texas,
and Florida. His travels lead him all the way to Europe playing five cities on a tour in Austria as well. He has spun at local venues as well such as Roxy, Roseland, Limelight,
The Shelter, Tunnel, Twilo, Carbon and Centro Fly. He has also played alongside DJs' Afrika Bambatta, Grand Wizard Theodore, Pal Joey, Little Louie Vega, Eric Morillo, Roy Davis Jr., Benji Candelario, Frankie Bones, Armand Van Helden, Roger Sanchez, Baby Hec Romero and the list goes on.
During the years of 1999 through 2001, Odyssey has released 4 records on
various labels. All electro-Break Beat re-mixes such as the Fire re-mix
featuring Afrika Bambatta (Jungle Sky Records/Liquid Sky Music), Petition
the Lord (Digital Native Attack Records), Bad Acid Jesus (Radikal
Records/Azucar Entertainment), and Reven Tergof (Entry 1 Records). Through
his musical style and talent, Odyssey is considered one of New York City's
top 10 most versatile DJs, mixing everything from Disco, Funk, Soul,
R & B, Nu Wave, House, Hip-Hop, Techno, Electro and Break Beats flawlessly.
To wrap it up, simply, there are no words to further explain how enjoyable
his sets are except to witness them first hand for your self. So come take a
trip on a musical "Odyssey".
