You Are The One........ I Pray Your Kingdom Come

About Me

The JCP was formed in the summer of 2006, at the request of a friend to feature Jeremy in a Christian music festival. Jeremy had been playing the local circuit as a solo artist for a few years and was eager to start a new chapter in his musical journey. It was around this time that Jeremy had also joined a new church and was in the process of making several new friends. One of these new friends was Jon Miller, a student at UT who also played bass on the side for a Christian coffee house ministry. "I remember watching Jon play and being immediately drawn to his sound." After a few talks of working together on a new project, Jon decided to join up with Jeremy and see where it would lead.

Jon mentioned that a few of the other guy's he'd been playing with might also be interested in what we were putting together. So he called up his good friend Rusty Deal. Once Jon had explained the direction we were looking to take, Rusty was hooked. But they were still without a drummer.

Jeremy auditioned several drummers but couldn't seem to find the chemistry that he was hoping for. Jon and Rusty both had wanted Mike May from their coffee house ministry to join in but Mike was reluctant. Mike was already involved in the coffee house ministry as well as a full time band that was traveling and gaining a decent following. It seemed unlikely that a drummer would be found in time for the festival. "We were three weeks out and I couldn't help but think even if we did find someone, there is no way we can get a set together this quick. It seem hopeless..... It's a funny thing about Christians. We serve the GOD who created the entire universe, overcame all obstacles to to keep us near Him and yet we have the nerve to think that He can't meet the smallest of needs in our lives."About two weeks out Mike came and asked if they'd found anyone yet. Rusty told him no and that we were about to give up hope on it. Mike thought about it for a second and said "Here's what we'll do. I play on this one show, just as side gig to keep you all from missing it." The next day they got together for a practice and it was obvious that there was definite chemistry between the four. With the show steadily approaching and not much time to practice, they met two more times and decided they were ready. The night before the event in preparation for everything, they asked "Are we going to call our self Jeremy Cotter?" It just didn't seem to fit.... After a few minutes someone suggested "The Jeremy Cotter Project. "We all laughed but somehow it stuck."Saturday morning they loaded up and went down to the site to start getting ready. Nervous about the outcome there was nothing left to do but leave it in GOD's hands. "I don't any band that could have never played before and only get two and a half practices in before playing a major show and then have it all go off without any problems....but we did!"After the show The JCP guy's were met w/ great feed back from the audience and friends alike. "Considering we hadn't really even put forth our best foot on this event, we knew that it had to be GOD that let us shine that night. If GOD blessed us so greatly for our tiny effort, how much more would He bless us when we gave it our all?" It was at that point that the band was born. Not in the desire for fame, money or praise from others. But in reverence to GOD's plan to share His love through out the world! We are a band dedicated to furthering the Kingdom of GOD through our music.
