L.G. (Lord's Gift)

The Birthday Boy!!!

About Me

The L.G. movement continues. With his new video "Here Witcha" already a Myspace and youtube staple (1200 viewings in three weeks), Dreamz R Real is now taking his online popularity to the next great website www.onfumes.com a music visual-concentrated site brought to you by the legendary VJ/DJ Ralph McDaniels.THE WORLD PREMIERE OF "HERE WITCHA"
It's undeniable. Some people simply do things and others were born to do them. Just like there are hundreds of signed rappers, thousands of unsigned rappers and millions of regular folks who just rap, only a few were created to master a ceremony. Enter Dreamz R Real Entertainment's L.G. (Lord's Gift). In the last year and a half, the 25-year-old L.G. has simultaneously become an interest in the music industry and a rising star in the streets via his two stellar Street LPs (Industry Co-Sign and Industry Co-Sign II: The 14 tracks Of Power ). While Industry Co-Sign was a great introduction, birthing mixtape and internet favorites like the Denaun Porter (D-12) produced and Crooked I featured "Follow Me" and Eddie Scorsezy produced "Music" (featured on the May '05 SMACK DVD ), landing L.G. in the Source Magazine's Unsigned Hype hall with greats like B.I.G., Eminem and Common, its successor brought national love to the future superstar. Boasting production by board heavyweights like Alchemist ("Man On Fire"), Midi Mafia ("Monkey") and Scram Jones ("When Animals Attack," featuring Scram Jones, Saigon, Graf and Curtains) and appearances from the likes of David Banner, DJ Drama, DJ Envy, Stat Quo, Big Mike and Sickamore, it was no surprise that L.G. received such hefty praises across the country.Last November, after MTV.com profiled L.G.'s Industry Co-Sign II CD on their Mixtape Monday segment, MTV News featured it during an episode of Direct Effect, saying the CD was "hotter than the final four episodes of HBO's The Wire." The Source has listed the CD as one of April's hottest street albums, Allhiphop.com professed that L.G. is a voice to be listened to" and The Ave magazine donned L.G. "the next big thing out of Brooklyn ." L.G. says, "The past year or so has been nothing short of a blessing. It means the world when you pour your heart into music and work your ass off to get it heard and it's appreciated by the masses. How many other rappers can say they recorded with Alchemist or rhymed with Eminem's artist or was encouraged by David Banner? From California to Atlanta to back home, they know I'm the next rap star."
But L.G. has always been a comet. Ever since the premium age of nine, he's displayed an undeniably natural talent for commanding audiences via rhyme. With a father who was lost to heroin, many of his first performances took place in the living room of his Brooklyn apartment, while keeping his single-mother company. But his rep was conceived outside of his cramped home as he utilized his immense, 6'4, 200 plus pound size, charismatic appeal and riptide flow to command ciphers in his East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn . "I used freestyling as a tool to bring down my opponent's ego," L.G. reveals. "After they finished spitting something they thought was the illest shit they wrote, I just rhymed off the head and sent em' back to the drawing board." But L.G.'s freestyle kingship became his handicap. With local fans always wanting to catch his spontaneous show, he began ignoring his other skill, songwriting. So while pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Communications at Delaware State University , L.G. used his time away from NYC to hone his pen craft. "I had to realize that just being nice at rhyming doesn't sell records," he says. "But if I can be nice and construct a good song it would take me that much further." This is why today L.G.'s future looks solar bright. With Dreamz R Real Entertainment helping his dreams come into fruition, L.G. plans to use his music to help his fans' dreams come true. "People need artists that can make them feel different emotions with each song because expressing emotions helps people learn themselves. And there are few things more powerful than a person with a complete identity," says L.G. "I'm not your typical MC. I have a college degree, I don't gang bang or go back and forth to jail but I'm probably better than your favorite rapper. So if you're ready to open your mind, I'm ready to be your voice." Let's do this y'all.
