Get to know more about Lord's Gift (L.G.)
Brooklyn, New Yorks teenage brothers T. Shaun (19) and Andre Jermaine a/k/a A.J. (17) are the sons of Hip-Hop legend rapper/producer Kangol Kid of mid 80s rap group, UTFO (Roxanne, Roxanne) fame. The brothers musical DNA has led them to following in their dads footsteps as young vocalist, rappers and song-writing producers. At the ages of six and four the brothers appeared on NYs Video Music Box as the singing group, Under 18. They then appeared in Black Beat Magazine as up & coming vocalists and performed on TVs Its Showtime at the Apollo with host/comedian Steve Harvey. Later T. Shaun developed an interest for the behind the scene aspect of the music industry and taught himself to play the drums and composed music on his Yamaha keyboard. This led him to producing his first track for legendary rapper Big Daddy Kane and Hip-Hops first Latin rapper Tito of The Fearless Four. A.J. on the other hand, enjoys center stage. Hes appeared as a guest on the short-lived talk show Iyanla, vocal trained as lead member of his gospel choir and has caught the acting-bug from lead roles in school plays. In the summer of 1998, the sudden rise of gang activity in their Brooklyn neighborhood forced their family to leave and move to Pennsylvanias beautiful Pocono Mountains. Stripped of the hip-hop culture they knew and loved, the brothers took their Brooklyn street savvy along with them and maintained their connection to their culture through their uncles who supplied them with new Hip-Hop/R&B CDs, monthly. Years later, as they became suburbanized teenagers, they noticed that fellow students from neighboring school districts (who were also stripped from the streets of New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia) shared a similar appetite for current Hip-Hop music. Immediately, the brothers hopped at this business opportunity and dubbed copies of these CDs for their fellow Hip-Hop deprived classmates for a profit. The brothers became so popular that A.J. ran for Student Council President and won with his Reach for The Stars campaign, filled with celebrity endorsed posters featuring pictures of himself with Destinys Child, Will Smith, 3LW, City High, Carson Daly, . . . and more.In the winter of 2003, the brothers formed and created SoundStorm Academy designed to service fellow students with up & coming Hip-Hop and R&B music. Their customers ranged from students to parents and teachers alike. Months later, a rival company developed in their school and offered students the same services at competitive prices. This introduction to business competition forced SoundStorm to reinvent themselves. With their earnings, they invested in purchasing DJ equipment to provide music for their schools dance. They then launched a school-wide talent search and morphed into a company designed to promote and exploit talent within their school. They later recruited student rappers and vocalists as artist, computer students for graphic designs and math-wiz students as accountants/marketing strategist. With their competition totally destroyed, they were now recognized as their schools record company.Word later traveled to New York Citys SONY URBAN MUSIC A&R Executive Joseph Cerini. Joe was so impressed, he offered the brothers a position as interns which later led them to also interning for Yvette Noel-Schure (publicist for singer/actress Beyonce), thereby making them the youngest interns in the company.Today, these young, Hip-Hop entrepreneurs music supply is serviced by major record companies and is self distributed throughout the Pocono regions hippest venues. Theyve also expanded their services to other companies (PONY, 310, Johnny Handsome, T-String) for product consultation, marketing and promotion. SoundStorm is currently the host of their high schools morning television program, PVTV and have recorded its shows theme song with featured rap artists (Salaam and Adoniz) from their personal roster meanwhile,SOUNDSTORM Volume 1 (which features celebrity guest drops from Nelly, Star & Buckwild, Kool DJ Red Alert, Jakk Frost) has sold over 3,000 copies and expect to double their sales with SOUNDSTORM Volume 2 featuring drops from Mike Tyson, Loon, Big Tigger, Sway which will debut their labels official first single Do My Dance featuring their first artist (Host of BET.com Countdown) Young Sir.
