American Heart is a film that started out as a concert to benefit injured soldiers returning from Iraq. First Aid took place on July 1, 2007 in Northampton, Mass. Jefferson Starship, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service, David and Linda Laflamme, and Tom Constanten, who had all protested the war in Vietnam, and changed the world, agreed to play, this time for a new generation of soldiers.Doug Pototsky, (Photographer of American Heart) and producer, Dave Mech then traveled to Washigton D.C. and interviewed soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and then ventured to The World Trade Center on 9/11/07 and Woodstock NY in October. What they recorded is a six month slice of American Pie, a piece of American Heart.Check out American Heart at www.myspace.com/americanheartthemovie.The American Heart Project a day of film, music (members of bands in the movie) and the photography exhibit of Doug Potosky's work make for an educational and entertaining event.
