Through the University's Band Society, Alex had become friends with Gaz Percival, who played bass in rock outfit El Mono and Seafood inspired Fly Me Friendly. In their travels through the music world at York, a drummer by the name of Liam 'Yom' Hardy was found, doing skin duty for soft-rocker group Angelshare. The time came when El Mono and Fly Me Friendly would disband in a few weeks time, as well as the possibility of Angelshare disappearing, and so an idea came to jam for a few kicks.
Having this fabric of musical mayhem, not to mention alcohol fuelled hysteria, a day came when a show put on in a bar, where the first band decided not to turn up, leaving a two hour period of notice. Alex looked at Yom, who looked at Gaz, who looked back at Alex in return.
"Blues Jam?"
"Yeah, alright then"
"Err...what do we know?"
Performing as "The Memoirs", in place of the RSI-bound The Memos, a weird first RH instrumental was played, promptly discarded due to it's crapness, Blues Jam in E, to Paranoid via The Trooper, finishing with a 'free-time' cover of Wild Thing. Well, we thought we were better than the headliners anyway.
After a few sessions of Alex and Yom jamming for some fun, we asked Gaz if he wanted to play bass for a new rock project. Bringing Rick back in on the guitar gives some room for some good old guitar harmonies and dual solo mayhem. Alex came up with the name Raven Heart after listening to W.A.S.P for far too long, cementing the start of a liberal dictatorship, but then Yom suggested Arctic Fury...thus, the Fury was reborn.
The band was given a voice when Alex encountered black-clad Gibraltarian rocker Nick, who after reading Alex's half-written lyrics to the songs, swiftly set them on fire and buried the ashes deep underground in a location which shall remain a mystery, although some say it still faintly smells of limburger. To this day Nick must often protest that he did not come up with the band's name. He then composed new lyrics to convey the hard-rocking spirit of Arctic Fury to those cloth eared phillistines who do not speak the sacred language of guitar.
We're all about hard rock and heavy metal. Indie was a feeble attempt to try and get rock going again, emo has just sullied the name of metal with it's very existence. All of the rock heroes are slowly losing their memories and going grey, and there are bands like us who have been created to keep the fire of rock and metal alive.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Nick Montegriffo - Lead Vocals

Alex Mullings - Guitars

Rick Blomfield - Guitars

Liam 'Yom' Hardy - Drums

Gaz Percival - Bass

Arctic Fury is one of few bands of younge people at the moment who want to make heavy metal music. All our heroes are slowly going grey and losing their memories while there are men and women, boys and girls, who yearn for a new generation of British metal to make a stand and give the world the finger.

We're here to bring no nonsense rock and metal back. In the past two years, indie has taken over, and I am quite frankly fucking sick of it. So, here we are. We're your hard rock in every sense of the word. We rock hard, catchy melodies, soaring vocals, chugging bass and pounding drums.

By the way, the name does not come from the dire 1949 film of the same name...we are no way THAT retro.
Influences: Well, we're all pretty damn fond of Iron Maiden. Which is a good start. Alex and Rick love the power metal, Gaz likes Dinosaur Junior and Seafood, and Yom will listen to just about anything!
Sounds Like: The way rock music should be played! Think late 1970's Scorpions mixed with prime cuts of Iron Maiden, and you get the idea.
Type of Label: None
