About Me

Well, if you really have no clue as to who I am... GOOD! Simply, I'm 31, Malaysian of Chinese parentage, an entertainment journalist - having been writing for 11 years now, and also into various other disciplines of the entertainment industry. Not too hard because I've been a freelance talent scout, image consultant and stylist, done live and studio production work, apart from having specialized in writing politics. Simple, fun-loving, and into clubbing, fashion and definitely music with a colorful life - I'm always thankful for what I have. But I definitely want more. At the moment, I have a total of eight piercings - two left lobe, one right lobe, one left ear cartilage, one on left side of my nose, one left eyebrow, middle lower lip and one on the tongue. Three tattoos, with more to come. My inspiration for my personal life is club culture obviously, with references to street trends, especially Japanese street fashion and gothic overtones. I hope to make an impact on the industry, not for the money (though that would be nice) Want to know more about me, just pop over to my blog at http://klubbkidd.blogdrive.com

My Interests

Music, movies, theater and basically fashion as well as anything that goes into the mix. A former clubbing freak with the occasional indulgence - my nick of course is a reference to the club scene, where in Kuala Lumpur in the mid 90s, the clubbing scene began and 'club kids' who indulged in every aspect of club culture from fashion to attitude, were born. It's of course a take on the pride of being one - thanks in large to the legendary Boom Boom Room Kuala Lumpur - followed by ther others in Movement and Backroom. Oh, also big into magic, though I'm not much good at it. Anything that stirs my creative juices is always a good thing. Also collecting vintage toys - especially of 80s cartoons and also shopping for my look.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone and everyone ineteresting with a story to tell, and personalities that light up the darkest skies. A plus side would be if they actually had the wisdom of an old soul. Unlike the masses, I think paper qualifications are overrated, and I'd prefer to meet people who are wise, period. Old souls - let's bondView Blog | View Pics | Add Comment

Music:

Weird mix. Most stuff in the British dance charts for mood to top 40. Can settle for any genre, though I generally have eclectic taste in musical selection. Internationally - divas like Madonna, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston reign supreme for me, as do Garth Brooks, Smashing Pumpkins (best rock band EVER!). The list goes on...but if you've heard it, I probably love it. Music is a language, and while not all of us can speak it, it still conveys somethings to each of us. Locally, Nikki is my all time favorite and trust me kids, she will be big!

Movies:

Love popcorn flicks - but musicals reign supreme. The Producers, Chicago, Dreamgirls. Notting Hill and Dead Poet's Society still make me reach out for a tissue. Love supernatural, horror, gore flicks though. So as you can see, my taste is as varied as my musical preference.

Television:

Reality shows rule! From local stuff to Akademi Fantasia to America's Next Top Model, I'm obsessed! Fanatic of Heroes series! Check out my pics section and you'll realize I'm extremely big on it. My weekly high... Don't really have much time to be a couch potato, I usually download my stuff off torrent if I don't catch it on air.

Books:

Gawd... how do I recall everything I've ever read. Starting on Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird to Amy Tan's Saving Fish From Drowning to pop culture like Harry Potter series (hate the movie versions). Love Amy Tan, Bill Bryson - Mary Janice Davidson's Undead series, the shopaholic series. Loads... of whatever I've read. Best autobio - Simon Cowell's and also Tim Allen.

Heroes:

Myself... how's that for positivity in self-affirmation? My parents of course, my sister who had a part in who I became. Kevin Costner, Garth Brooks, my mentor in Zainal Alam Kadir who made me the writer I am today, Yasmin Ahmad the best filmmaker ever.. and Ron Jeremy. Dig that! Whatever it is... I don't believe in idolizing anyone, as I believe to be the best person I can be, I should take bits and pieces of everyone that I admire and strive to be that.
