If the good lord had intended us to walk, he wouldn't have invented rollerskates.

About Me

I am mother to one.

I am friend, confidant, critic, and bad influence to several.

I find myself conflicted with feelings of both empathy and contempt for my fellow man.

I worry about the world my daughter will grow up in.

I'm much too wrapped up in what people I barely know (or don't even know) think of me and this is one of the main things I dislike about myself.

I should never be allowed to shop by myself.

I start far too many sentences with "I".

My Interests

zoe, siege, insects, good writers, bad movies, distance running, experimental cooking (blindfolded!), collages, bellydance, reading books in short spurts and then forgetting that I'm in the middle of them (oh wait, that's not so much an intrest as it is an annoying thing...)

I'd like to meet:

People with a good sense of humor, people who aren't uncomfortable with long silences, massage therapists who are looking for practice (free) cliental, old friends and fellow miscreants from my past

Music:

laura veirs, mika, the donnas, jenny owen youngs, venushum, hawksley workman, cake, squirrel nut zippers, butt trumpets, cat stevens, the doors, led zeppelin, the gossip, the muppets, the dresden dolls, cole porter, nat king cole, etta baker, rosemary clooney, portishead, me first and the gimme gimmes, amy winehouse, the fraggles, genre music: middle eastern, celtic, classic country and bluegrass

Movies:

Evil Dead series, Princess Bride, Royal Tenenbaums, American Splendor, Young Frankenstein, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the Gene Wilder version), Brazil, Harold and Maude, Shoulin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle (okay, ANY Stephen Chow movie), Tank Girl, Drunken Master, Spaceballs, Zorro the Gay Blade, Dune

Television:

what is this television of which you speak?

Er, well, Adult Swim pretty much can't go wrong in my book.

Books:

Snowcrash, The Bell Jar, The Hobbit, The Bitch in the House, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Prodigal Summer, The Princess Bride, One Hundred Years of Solitude, A Brief History of the Dead, anything by Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Neal Stephenson, Douglas Adams, or Roald Dahl...

Heroes:

Catherine Newman, Beth Ditto, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, every fierce woman (that I aspire to be), Jon Stewart, George Sheehan, Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde, Kahlil Gibran, Charles Darwin, Bruce Campbell, Gene Wilder
