About Me
Myspace LayoutsBorn and raised in Middletown, New Jersey, Courtney McManus's love of music has been apparent to all around her since she was a child.
As she grew up, she developed a raw talent for writing and effecting people with her voice.
Courtney McManus loves what she does and it comes across in her music. Just listen to one of her many songs and you won't be able to help feeling her passion, her pain, and her joy. Her songs are written with an honesty so seldom heard these days on the radio.
With an ensemble of breathtaking music and powerful lyrics and vocals, her songs are genuinely relatable to anyone who has ever been in love, had a broken heart or felt loss in a profound way.
Courtney draws on her own life experiences, which range from the devastating to the hopeful to the pure joy you can hear from every note she sings.
Taking a hand in writing the music as well as the lyrics that, as all who are close to her know, are derived from her own experiences as a sister, daughter, lover and friend. Courtney shares the deepest parts of herself in the only way she knows how, through music.
If one listens to Courtney's songs with their eyes closed, one can imagine her stories becoming their own, her words finding a way to express what so many of us feel.
Because of her talent and drive, Courtney has been able to overcome obstacles in her own life and work with several talented and well-known professionals of the music world.
In 2001, she could be found at a number of shore bars and clubs as the singer in two well-known acoustic duos: "Stealing Candy" and "Under Blue Sky".
Soon after, Courtney had the pleasure to meet and work with Producer/Songwriter and two-time ASCap winner, John DeGrazio, with whom she co-wrote her first song to be played on the radio, "Pushing Me Away".
Next, Courtney had the opportunity to collaborate with Singer/Songwriter Andrew Fromm, who has written songs for such artists as The Backstreet Boys and Mark Anthony.
Later that year, opportunity knocked again when Courtney recorded a song written and produced by Kit Hain, who enjoyed success as part of the duo Marshall Hain, and has written songs for such legendary artists as Cher, Roger Daltry and Chaka Kahn.
Courtney has also worked with Producer/Songwriter Steve Hillier of the band "DubStar", which achieved major success in the U.K.
In July 2004, Courtney met Chris Gunnowski and Greg Federico and began to write songs that would tell the story of her life. The songs are not only appealing to the senses but allow the listener to enter into the world of this talented young woman.
