If the name doesn’t say it all, then the lyrics he spews on the mic will clear up any questions as to why mc’s should run from ‘Disaster.’ With a personality that parallels his flow, Born Disaster a.k.a B.D. is south central’s quiet storm. Growing up in Watts, B.D. knew that to keep from getting caught up; he had to keep himself busy. Staying involved in community programs and talent shows kept him away from the treacherous temptation of the streets and formed a newfound love for performing through dancing and rapping.
Using every opportunity to write helped him to polishing his proclivity for the pen. An association is what spawned the connection between B.D. and his current Re-mixxx family, but not an instant affair. Though his association saw potential for B.D., he still needed a little work so B.D. stayed in the lab and came back a year later. As fate would have it, an impromptu battle at a studio session would be the forum for B.D. to show and prove his work was not in vain, Darnell Harmon, CEO of Re-mixxx Entertainment called B.D. in to battle a member of the Re-mixxx family and when B.D. caused his ‘natural disaster’ the other mc never came back and B.D. was brought into the fold.
As a member of the Re-mixxx arsenal, B.D. brings an element as he delivers prolific perils with a smooth syncopated flow riding the baselines like he’s rolling on 20’s. Though he’s been compared to west coast veteran WC, B.D.’s flows have a particular twist that sets him apart from the rest.
Expect to hear classic west coast music with B.D.’s debut release with Re-mixxx Entertainment. “Darnell gave me a chance when no one else would,” states B.D. “That’s all I feel like I needed to prove to myself was a chance. I treat every piece of music I create like it’s a masterpiece because I want to create music that people will want to listen to 10 and 20 years from now and still say that’s good music.”
