Giovanni Goodman A.K.A. "The Chemo Kid" was born April 4, 1984 in Queens, NY to mother Maria Goodman and father Guglielmo "POPS" Goodman. At the age of 9, his parents moved to Vacaville, CA where he went to local schools: Callison Elementary, Vaca Pena Middle School and Will C. Wood High School. The Chemo Kid hasn't had the easiest roads. At the age of 14, his mother was diagnosed with oral cancer. Spending his freshman and sophomore years going to school in the daytime and nursing his mother at night, while his father worked the graveyard shift, he still found a way to keep his grades up and not get sidetracked. On September 19, 1999, in the beginning of sophomore year, his mother fell to the disease. With this devastating blow to his world, The Chemo Kid stayed on track and accelerated through school, touring across the country playing trumpet with an All State Jazz Ensemble. Lettering in football, baseball, music and track, he graduated with a 3.1 GPA. Straight from high school, he entered the working world and moved his way up the corporate ladder in the banking business. Everything seemed to be going well until a few days before his 21st birthday, when he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (a rare cancer). Battling off and on with the disease for the past four years, he endured countless treatments of Chemotherapy, Spinal Taps, Bone Marrow Biopsies and several other tests. Late summer of 2006, he underwent an "Auto Bone Marrow Transplant" that would hold off the cancer for several months, but not catch it. The Chemo Kid once again went through a series of therapies and surgeries throughout 2007-2008, while waiting to receive a "Donor Bone Marrow Transplant". Being half African-American and half Italian-American, chances of a donor were slim, but thankfully, he had his sister, Gabriella Goodman, as a perfect match. During the last stages of testing, The Chemo Kid and his family were hit with another devastating blow, discovering his sister's test showed she also had a rare bone cancer called Multiple Myloma. Now this time not only he, but also his sister, had to suck it up and face the disease without fear. Luckily, there was a perfect match for The Chemo Kid and he underwent the transplant, in which he's currently recovering from. Rapping hasn't always been on the top of The Chemo Kid's mind, but one late and drunken night he wrote a skit song with his friends Coop, Amanda, Jacqui and Ommie called, "Text Me", and people responded to it. After the responses, he then tried expressing his own struggles and battles through music, in songs such as: "My Life Story", "Letter To Momma", "My Destiny", and the hit remake, "I'm Illy", which are on his debut mixtape, "Survivors Ambition The Mixtape". With this new found success, The Chemo Kid is currently working on a new album while recuperating from his bone marrow transplant, and plans to bring his real music across the globe. The main point that he stresses is never let anything hold you back from your dreams. "The Chemo Kid... It's not a stage name... It's my life"!
