About Me

About
If D’Angelo was the child of Jimi Hendrix and Eryka Badu, who then had a love child with the members of Jurassic 5 who was brought up on Curtis Mayfield, Outkast and Prince you would have a very mixed up cat! Lucky for us we have You and Your Music.

The quartet formed in late 2007 as a side project of vocalist Adam King (Fizard, Class Trip) and guitarist Ben Oastler (Supernova, Class Trip). The breakup of Class Trip sparked an intense songwriting drive which resulted in the two writing and recording at every opportunity. Whilst having a short giggin spell with ex members of Class Trip, You 'n UR Music are now looking for a drummer and bassist to complete the lineup.
Members Profile
Adam comes from a family of musicians and has sung from an early age. He has recorded with Connie Mitchell (Sneaky Sound System), trained with Daniel Merewether and recorded and toured and recorded with 2003 Unearthed winners, Fizard. Adam’s vocals feature an incredible range and vibrato control which is complemented by his unique and hearty tone. You and Your Music, for the first time, features Adams rhymes proving he is more than just a singer.
Ben’s background is in traditional funk, blues and jazz, studing Contemporary Music at SCU in Lismore NSW. After stumbling across a Roots album several years ago, his musical focus shifted to modern urban sounds; particularly hiphop. He brings to the band a solid knowledge of music theory and which is apparent in his jazz inspired use of chords. Ben’s love a keyboard sounds drove him to try to mimic the sound on the guitar. The project sees his playing bridge a gap between rock, funk and hiphop.
Adam and Ben are currently gigging under the alias 'You 'n UR Acoustic', showcasing unplugged versions of all the tunes whilst replacement bassist and drummer are rehearsed.
