CHALK OUTLINE PARTY

Don't miss COP's FINAL SHOW Jun 21 @ Lava Lounge

About Me

***UPDATE*** Thanks to everyone who came out for our final show. Check back here now and then as we'll be posting links to everyone's new projects.
Thanks so much to everyone who has stuck around with us. It's been a blast.
Check out drummer Jeremy Papay's band The Dirty Sunshine .

Part of Pittsburgh's volatile underground music and art scene, Chalk Outline Party was a new growth of bleak romanticism atop the city's industrial past. Slyly inverting the traditional power trio, vocalist Aaron Jentzen also performed on bass, while Brian Sproul's guitars draped the imagistic songs in shimmering post-Belew sonics, all over drummer Jeremy Papay's polyrhythmic attack. The group's hard-edged live show included a film by filmmaker Jessica Fenlon made specifically to accompany their performances.
Check out the "live" video for our 2006 single, "Psychic UK":

Jessica Fenlon just made this animated video for one of our older songs, "The Gun in Everyone," off our last EP. It's part of the film we sometimes show during our live shows:

"a tight, smart urbane sound, darkly sardonic ... a cunning combination of Joy Division and The Cure's early existential gloom-pop, swathed in decadent '70s glam." Tribune-Review

CHALK OUTLINE PARTY: A Plan Lost in Dreams

"If only everyone's idea of straight-ahead rock'n'roll were more like Chalk Outline Party's: the dangerous swampland where rock's beautiful failures ('60s garage, post-punk, dark '80s new wave) are buried next to its lionized beauties (Bowie, Bryan Ferry)

Aaron Jentzen: vox + bass
