About Me

Hi there, I'm Pete and pretty much a straight down the line guy.I like to give compliments and try to be funny on your page or photo albums sometimes - but please don't read between the lines, because there's nothing there. I try my best to keep things black and white.
I'm not going to get someone to write a bio for me, or pretend they did so I can talk it up.I've been playing guitar and writing songs since I was 20. At 21 I co-formed the band Cage Of Joy with a group of mates from the other side of town, who I'd met through a friend from school . All my guitar buddies on my side of town were into mastering Hendrix, Paige, Rhodes riffs, whilst I just wanted to learn/write songs by ear with some basic theory to support me. That's what I did and that brought about the guitar sound for Cage Of Joy. We played on and off from 1991-2007, having big breaks due to family commitments. Our inspirations were mainly the punk/post-punk sounds from the late '70s and into the '80s and '90s.Cage Of Joy collectively only played live for 4 Summers, doing around 100 gigs. A couple of shady record deals came our way; it was a very common story of "what might've been." We are all still in contact and who knows what the future holds? These days I play solo. If I record , I do have members from Cage Of Joy to call upon for assistance. I play mainly electric guitar, so the song Ink, which is the first to be uploaded on here, is my more rare form on accoustic.
I like to think I cover a fair few genres of music, however, I hate that word: genre. When music's played by humans and not machines, like in my case, it's basically a different range of emotions and moods coming out. I label ( I don't like that word either) myself under the category of 'rock'. If it's viable for me to play live again, I'll be doing it. I write songs about life experiences and my own philosophy on it. Sometimes I put lyrics to music, and sometimes the opposite.
I'll be recording new songs throughout this year and onwards. Albums are not on my plate at this stage. If they are, I'll update this.I use Ernie Ball guitar strings because they're simply the best in all aspects! www.ernieball.com

Gift-Wrapped: The meaning behind it.

Gift-Wrapped was written in 2007 and recorded in April ’08. The recording and its quality was/is an absolute joke; I got shafted - but that’s another story. The song’s pretty m...

The Catalysts Behind The Songs: Ink, What’s At Stake

Sometimes I'm asked if a particular song is a true story. I don't exactly go for cryptic, mystical lyrics (it's not as passionate for me to perform the songs that way), so it is possible, in...
