About Me

I love Philosophy, Theology, gummy bears, and fresh baked bread. I also enjoy first-person shooter PC games, Playboy, Hemingway, Psychedelics, and Entheogenics. Throw in some Jack Kerouac, Sam Lipsyte, Rick Moody, Alex Garland, Chuck Palahniuk, Sean Murphy, Kent Haruf, Jeffery Eugenides, Michael Chabon, Hunter S. Thompson, Richard Russo, J.T. LeRoy, Brett Easton Ellis, Whitney Otto, and Judy Blume and we have a party equipped with Ether, Cocaine, Mushrooms, hypodermic needles filled with our mothers ashes, the Torah, condoms, ink wells, writing sticks, fashion mags, fake personas, The New Testament, and bullet wounds. That is my kind of party.
My name is James Aaron Goolsby. I recently began to write under the name James A. Goolsby. I was once writing under the pen name Jordan Lake, but I think Jordan Lake is going into retirement. I was a completely different writer when I used that pen name. I feel like I've changed much, not only in style, but heart. I think I've matured some also, so its time to use my real name, even the James part which I never liked as a kid. My dad was always James, so I never had much use for it. My friends will still call me Aaron, and some of them will even call me JAG, because as I once said to a stripper... it's a smooth ride.
