Ivy, That Hot Screenwriter Chick?!

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

My name is Ivy, and I'm 24-years-old. I am a screenplay writer by profession, and I one day hope to direct, act, and produce. Basically, I want to RULE THE WORLD! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!... I am proud to say that I was rejected by USC... twice (they also rejected Spielberg... twice). So, I ended up attending Seattle U, instead. However, my stay at SU was very brief... I had absolutely no interest in the field of Broadcast Journalism, I was still upset over the loss of my mother, and I was burned out on the whole "college thing," by then, having attended two years early (because I was really bored with high school...). I guess I just have a problem with sitting in a lecture hall for 2 hours, while a professor teaches me how to regurgitate the same useless information time and again, just so I can go work some boring corporate job... That may be good for everyone else, but I was meant for something much bigger... So, I left college to pursue MY dreams, and I've never looked back...Anyway, while movies are obviously very important to me, they are not my WHOLE LIFE. I am not one of those film Nazis that sit around watching every film ever made just so they can feel superior about their vast "knowledge." I don't dislike movies just because a particular director made it, or a particular actor stars in it. I simply appreciate good writing, good acting, and an overall well shot film. So, I'm not as savvy as my competitors when it comes to useless trivia. Big deal. It doesn't make me any less driven. In fact, I believe that there are two kinds of writer/filmmakers in this world: Those who live through films, and those who actually live. The ones that live through films are the ones who are responsible for making the same mind-numbing crap that gets recycled daily in Hollywood today. The ones that go out and gain actual life experiences are the ones who become the revolutionary filmmakers of their time. Why? Because they know what's real. And I don't mean real as in "reality" as described so inaccurately by television nowadays.Filmmaking is all about manipulation. The audience craves it. They watch movies as a way to escape their own reality, if even for just a short while (hence, why those who only watch are not in tune with reality, and why those who live can utilize it). As a filmmaker/writer, you have the ultimate influence over an audience because for those couple of hours that they are immersed in your film, you control their very emotions. You can make them laugh, you can make them cry. The "reality" that you have created on the screen becomes their (temporary) reality. That, my friends, is the ultimate power To make people "live the movie" as they watch your story unfold...I want to make an impact in my chosen profession, not become impacted by it...

My Interests

The warm pages of a screenplay, hot off the press, and the smell of fresh ink... Writing, art, sports, driving around and getting lost in LA, singing very loud and very bad in my car, film, going to movies, shopping, clubbing, Jagger Bombs, cooking, hanging out beachside, HOLLYWOOD, learning to play my guitar, bike rides, playing with my dog, shooting pool, finding new dive diners and cool restaurants, all kinds of music, seeing rock shows at small venues, video games , reading (at constant study for my work), chillin' with my "homies," finding cool boutiques off the beaten path, food, hair dye, tattoos, piercings (just my ears, but I love a guy with a lip ring...), meeting tons and tons of new and interesting people, going out to clubs/restaurants/special events by myself, gothic/punk attire, spikey things, chains, leather, black makeup/nail polish, over-priced designer crap, people watching, scaring snobs, etc.......Take the quiz: "Which Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle are You?"

Michelangelo
Awe YAH! You're the party dude! You enjoy goofing off and pulling pranks! Life's a beach! People NEED you in order to lighten up! Happiness isn't a destination, it's simply a way of life! You like games, sports, and many different activities involving showing off your athletic skills! Does annoying your sisters and brothers count? Ehehe! You enjoy being the center of attention, the star of the show, and the known joker of the group! Gotta make 'em laugh!.... Hahaha! I knew it! Cowabunga, dudes! I love Michelangelo... :-)

I'd like to meet:

My ultimate goal is to have my name become as synonymous with film as Mr. Spielberg's... I look forward to our future brainstorming sessions, over coffee, in the wee hours of the morning, cuz we're both just too damn excited about my newest spec to wait... SWOON... I respect Angie for doing some good with her fame and fortune. I hope to do the same, someday. All three... I really look up to Tina. She rocks. (So does that guy with the goofy smile...). Tyra kicks ass.HAHA. Cool people. Those in my business and/or the music industry would be preferable. But, I'm open to meeting all non-jerks.I do want to point out, however, that I check out the profiles of everyone who sends me an add request. So, if you have nothing but naked porn stars on your site, don't even bother. I won't add you. Do not bother sending me creepy, nasty e-mails, either, because you will be promptly blocked from contacting me any further.Special Note: I actually live in Los Angeles, but I am currently back in WA, spending time with my sick father. I'm absolutely miserable, here in WA, far from home and all the excitement of Hollywood. However, I've come to terms with the fact that I don't have too much time left with my dad, so I'm enjoying the time we do have. Even if it means putting my dreams on hold, for a bit...

Cuz I'm Ms. Brightside...Apoptygma Berzerk...Pure Genius...The soundtrack to my life...:

Music:

Anything that's what I and ONLY I deem to be good, though I tend to love rock more than anything. I listen to everything from Christina Aguilera to Eminem, from Good Charlotte to Linkin Park, from The Postal Service to NIN... Whatever. I'm not as savvy as most people when it comes to music, but I'm always willing to listen to something new and give it a fair shot, if I haven't heard it/been exposed to it before (which is a lot). I totally dig the Oldies cuz that's all my dad would EVER listen to in the car when I was growing up... Elvis, The Beach Boys, The Beatles... Doesn't matter, it was all good... I DESPISE stupid music Nazis. You know the types... The ones that will belittle anyone with views different from their own, attempting to force their beliefs and opinions upon whomever disagrees with them. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone asks either, "So, what kind of music do you listen to?/What's your favorite band?" Typically, this person IS in fact a music Nazi, and they soon proceed to judge my worth as a human being, based upon my response... "Um... I like Green Day..."

Movies:

Reading my little diddy up above there^^^ will tell you more about this category... Anyway, I love well written, well acted, well directed/shot movies... Favorite? The Lion King. Lol. Sad, but true. Sure, I like a lot of other great movies. I particularily enjoyed Crash... Socially important films like that and John Q really get to me... I love Johnny Depp more and more as the years go by. I don't like Quintin Tarrantino's work much at all. (So, shoot me). Spielberg is my idol (has been since I was a little girl). But, I've since grown out of "wanting to be the next Spielberg." Now, I just want to be "the first Ivy." I adore the Indiana Jones movies. I do. My perfect date consists of a pizza and an "Indie" movie marathon... I DESPISE all things Star Wars... Especially that last piece of "one-liner" crap... Booo, George. Booo! Romantic comedies rock... if they're not super sappy, predictable, and lame (hard to come by these days). Pretty Woman is my favorite... Rush Hour is one of my favorite action/comedies (in homage to my mother, rest her soul). My father influenced me to love old war movies... (I finally made him watch Saving Private Ryan a little while ago...). My favorite teen movie is by far Mean Girls, although 10 Things I Hate About You (shot in my old hometown, but set in stupid Seattle), comes in a close second... I used to hate scarey movies cuz they'd keep me up at night (wild imagination)... Now, I hate them cuz the majority of them SUCK! Hmmm... what else? I dunno, I just love movies... I just hope to help bring GOOD movies back to the silver screen.

Television:

I actually don't have cable by choice right now because I hate what TV has become. Reality TV is crap. Pure crap! I did, however, watch my first episode of Desperate Housewives the other day... that show was pretty good. (We'll see how it lasts). I used to love Friends when it was on the air, and it is disappointing to see that sitcoms are going by the wayside because the writers these days SUCK! I still love all the Law and Orders (I guess cuz I've been watching them with my dad since I was a little girl), but I don't really like any of the other cop shows. (I hate how TV Networks have to rip one another off cuz they can't come up with anything original). I DESPISE the O.C. Plain and simple. (My series will be putting them out of work soon enough...). I tend to turn into a zombie when those damn "The Fabulous Life of:____" type of shows come on... I start to day dream too much... Animal Planet is by far my favorite channel, as I used to be obsessed with those specials that would come on the Discovery Channel once a blue moon. When I found out I could see all animals docs all the time, I was ecstatic... Mostly, though, I think TV lately is just crap. As with movies, I also plan to bring the small screen back from the edge of stupidity (I've been developing/shopping a show around for a while, now).

Books:

Raptor Red by Robert T. Bakker. I get bored with reading, though. I'd rather be writing! I've read enough screenwriting books, now, that I could write one, myself!
