Ivy, That Hot Screenwriter Chick?!

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

My name is Ivy, and I'm 24-years-old. I am a screenplay writer by profession, and I one day hope to direct, act, and produce. Basically, I want to RULE THE WORLD! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!... I am proud to say that I was rejected by USC... twice (they also rejected Spielberg... twice). So, I ended up attending Seattle U, but that didn't last very long... I guess I just have a problem with sitting in a lecture hall for 2 hours, while a professor teaches me how to regurgitate the same useless information time and again, just so I can go work some boring corporate job... That may be good for everyone else, but I was meant for something much bigger...Anyway, while movies are obviously very important to me, they are not my WHOLE LIFE. I am not one of those film Nazis that sit around watching every film ever made just so they can feel superior about their vast "knowledge." I don't dislike movies just because a particular director made it, or a particular actor stars in it. I simply appreciate good writing, good acting, and an overall well shot film. So, I'm not as savvy as my competitors when it comes to useless trivia. Big deal. It doesn't make me any less driven. In fact, I believe that there are two kinds of writer/filmmakers in this world: Those who live through films, and those who actually live. The ones that live through films are the ones who are responsible for making the same mind-numbing crap that gets recycled daily in Hollywood today. The ones that go out and gain actual life experiences are the ones who become the revolutionary filmmakers of their time. Why? Because they know what's real. And I don't mean real as in "reality" as described so inaccurately by television nowadays.Filmmaking is all about manipulation. The audience craves it. They watch movies as a way to escape their own reality, if even for just a short while (hence, why those who only watch are not in tune with reality, and why those who live can utilize it). As a filmmaker/writer, you have the ultimate influence over an audience because for those couple of hours that they are immersed in your film, you control their very emotions. You can make them laugh, you can make them cry. The "reality" that you have created on the screen becomes their (temporary) reality. That, my friends, is the ultimate power. To make people "live the movie" as they watch your story unfold... I want to make an impact in my chosen profession, not become impacted by it...

My Interests

The warm pages of a screenplay, hot off the press, and the smell of fresh ink... Writing, art, sports, driving around and getting lost in LA, singing very loud and very bad in my car, film, going to movies, shopping, clubbing, Jagger Bombs, cooking, hanging out beachside, HOLLYWOOD, learning to play my guitar, bike rides, playing with my dog, shooting pool, finding new dive diners and cool restaurants, all kinds of music, seeing rock shows at small venues, video games, reading (at constant study for my work), chillin' with my "homies," finding cool boutiques off the beaten path, food, hair dye, tattoos, piercings (just my ears, but I love a guy with a lip ring...), meeting tons and tons of new and interesting people, going out to clubs/restaurants/special events by myself, gothic/punk attire, spikey things, chains, leather, black makeup/nail polish, over-priced designer crap, people watching, scaring snobs, etc.......

I'd like to meet:

Fellow filmmakers, dreamers, and other creative types. Please visit my primary profile: http://www.myspace.com/ivysmiley

Music:

Anything that's what I and ONLY I deem to be good, though I tend to love rock more than anything. I listen to everything from Christina Aguilera to Eminem, from Good Charlotte to Linkin Park, from The Postal Service to NIN... Whatever. I'm not as savvy as most people when it comes to music, but I'm always willing to listen to something new and give it a fair shot, if I haven't heard it/been exposed to it before (which is a lot). I totally dig the Oldies cuz that's all my dad would EVER listen to in the car when I was growing up... Elvis, The Beach Boys, The Beatles... Doesn't matter, it was all good... I DESPISE stupid music Nazis. You know the types... The ones that will belittle anyone with views different from their own, attempting to force their beliefs and opinions upon whomever disagrees with them. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone asks either, "So, what kind of music do you listen to?/What's your favorite band?" Typically, this person IS in fact a music Nazi, and they soon proceed to judge my worth as a human being, based upon my response... "Um... I like Green Day..."

Movies:

Ha ha. I'll get back to this one...

Television:

I'll get back to this one, too...

Books:

Raptor Red by Robert T. Bakker. I get bored with reading, though. I'd rather be writing! I've read enough screenwriting books, now, that I could write one, myself!

Heroes:

My mom and my dad...

My Blog

12 Years...

I have been writing screenplays since I was twelve-years-old, which means that I've been chasing this dream for half my life. You would think that I would have achieved some manner of success, by now....
