Cleopatra Fyntanidou was born in Athens, Greece. Music tradition is part of her family as her Russian great-grandfather and her grandfather were both famous jazz musicians. Although her grandfather lived in New York, she has been strongly influenced by him, when at the age of six started her first classic piano lessons.
After her studies in piano, at the age of 15 she started mixing in school parties. Although she was a music lover and a vinyl collector since she was 13, she had never thought of being a professional dj since she came back from London, where she had lived for almost a year. Her first appearance as a professional dj was due to an annual collaboration she had with “Red Bullâ€. That was a good start not only because she gained a lot of experience, but also because it enabled her to travel around Greece and perform in numerous clubs. To supplement her dj career, Cleopatra studied audio engineering in “SAE Athens Collegeâ€.
For many years she worked as a music assistant and producer in various radio and TV stations in Athens such as “Flash 96.1â€, “Athens 98.4â€, “NET†and “Mega Channelâ€. In addition, in 1997, for some period, she was responsible for the Public Relation Department of Polygram Recording Company.
However, Cleopatra’s diverse interests led her being involved with different aspects of music and sound.
In November 2003, she was the music supervisor and dj at Maria Wiener’s live dance performance with improvised choreography and animation projections entitled “AtmoSphere†(“Hat Factory Theatreâ€, Luton, UK). In August 2004 she was the sound engineer in Konstantinos Pilavios’ short fiction film entitled “KONYâ€. In April 2006 she participated in “Athens Video Art Festival†as a music supervisor with Glykeria Zannou’s video installation entitled “Loveâ€.
Cleopatra has performed as a dj in several events among other djs, such as Nick Warren, Silicone Soul and SCSI9. These include: Athen’s “European Music Day†(June 2003, 2004, 2005), Athen’s “Spring Fashion Show of Oscar de la Renta†by Haris Tsimogiannis (March 2005), “De La Guarda†after show party (February 2006), Athens “XClusive Designers Weekâ€- Christoforos Kotentos’ fashion show (May 2007) and “Boy George’s ‘B Rude’ fashion show party†(November 2007),“Platforma Video 7†(December 2007).
In her recent career she has worked as a Radio Producer in KLIK FM before she was employed by “Best Radio FMâ€. Cleopatra’s current shows run from Monday to Thursday 24:00-02:00 GR @ Best Radio . Every first Monday of the month 21:00-23:00 GR @ Dance Radio , you can listen her tunes at “Electric Mondays With Cleopatraâ€, a two-hours music journey through the web. Her latest radio appearances include her participation as a guest dj at the “KSK Radio†of Buenos Aires for the “High Gloss Girls Show†(April 2007).
As a dj, Cleopatra has shared the decks with other renowned djs, such as Mistress Barbara, The Flash Brothers, Sister Bliss, Mathew Dekay, Seb Fontaine, G Pal, Superpitcher, Navid Tahernia, Terry Lee Brown Junior, Jan Carbon and Hiroshi Watanabe.
