The Knotwells

A funeral dance from the cold wastes

About Me

Convenience stores, barn dances, anarchist cafes, somewhere a band popped out and it was the Knotwells. At some point or another our mutual interests have allowed us to play with the likes of Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Flogging Molly, County Z, The Reverend Glasseye And His Wooden Legs, New Model Army, This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb, Rotten Living, Mike Gunther and His Restless Souls, Munly And The Lee Lewis Harlots, Danger Boy And The Road Vultures, and the list goes on and on...We've released one album (Blood River Melodies), here's a review by Cyn Collins: "Featured on the CD are the Knotwells uniquely revolutionary and rebellious songs about survival, treachery, religion being a big letdown, poverty, drug abuse, folklore, dark dangers from a Neo-Nazi in New Orleans and a mythical creature in the woods, friends that abandon you in times of trouble such as a bike crash. Fistful of Dynamite is inspired by the Sergio Leone western of that title, with a 'unique sense of class consciousness and a sense of being on the sidelines of a revolutionary war,' the Knotwells' classic 'Nothing New (for Trash Like You)' inspired by film Gummo, and a favorite of mine, 'Treblinka,' 'an imaginary story of a Gypsy junkie on the way to a death camp'"Blood River Melodies is available from the Frostbite Distro who also distribute stuff by many amazing folks, I'm sure you can find them on myspace.com. We're a band of contradictions.
