The Round Table

(The Round Table has symbolic and mystical meanings. The table was created to resemble the roundness of the world and was originally a symbol of that perfect world. The Table itself became synonymous with deeds of courage and chivalry. Nevertheless the world it represented was an imperfect world, because the people who dwelt within its realms were flawed. They were far from perfect and had human failings.)
Not to be misconstrued as a connection to the legendary King Arthur, The Round Table describe themselves as more of a movement than a group with the aim of bringing discussion and esoteric theories to the proverbial Table. The group itself is essentially a duo Magus (Mc) & Alfonso X of Castile (Producer/Mc) they have a number of affiliates as well that they work with under the Round Table moniker which are also heavily involved with making Hip-Hop music. They pride themselves on delivering a potent message within their music making each track a highly concept based thought out piece of music. Alfonso describes the views of the group as being An open viewpoint where his take lyrically on a track or title will be almost the polar opposite of Magus We are not trying to force feed people our opinions, we want to give people the chance to make their own informed judgement and then go away and make or form their own opinions on what they have just heard explains Alfonso. This point is strongly put to the test on the track Jesus Wept featuring Lethargy & Blamstoker which deals with the aspect of Christianity. Magus offers the perception that In my opinion the teachings/organisation of the aforementioned religion are arguably the most corrupt in the world whereas Alfonso takes a completely different view upon the subject. This is also displayed on Maguss solo track Fly On the Wall where he takes the title literally and looks at world affairs and the current state of political views through the eyes of a conscientious observer. This all makes up the unique blend and movement of what The Round table is trying to achieve, using the means of music and the medium of free thinking.
When asked about the production side of The Round Table Alfonso makes it known that because we deal with concepts that are quite broad minded in their range I try and make the beats to an epic scale, almost along the lines of a sound track or a musical composition. Not sticking to the conventional use of samples and melodies that are usually commonplace within Hip-Hop production The Round Table sound can be compared to a canvas of ideas and structures which are formed around the root core of what Hip-Hop was originally defined as, a means for expression, echoing back to both Magus & Alfonsos influences. Magus uses the term poetry as apposed to what can now be described in this mainstream era as rapping. His syllable and dextrose flow can be compared to the likes of old Skool Uk groups such as Hijack and Gunshot although that is a loose and maybe limiting evaluation it is a basis of comparison to a more raw and compassionate style which is seldom seen in Mcs these days. I see my rhymes as a scientific structure Magus adds I like to play with the words, its almost like numerology to me, mathematics but in a verbal form. Alfonso dwells in a battle era, conjugating knowledge & verbs whilst assimilating metaphors to dish out the downfall and corruption of his chosen subject or opponent, making a complete and balanced structure within the groups dynamics.
With the ever-nearing release of the full length album entitled Vedic Scriptures, we are assured that the listener will be provided with something that they can latch onto by means of relating to the subject matter. Not only by bringing a conscious thought process to the album they will also be delivering a more battle related style to 40% of the material. The reason for this Alfonso explains is We want to show any doubters or critics of what we do that we can represent as pure mcs, to show that we are not just 1 dimensional in our approach to the music. The main focus of the project is to keep the listener entertained as well as informed so the premise of the album is to keep things mixed and matched to give it a complete package feel. The other interesting fact about this project is that it is all self funded and has been kept under wraps until its completion. The thinking behind it is that there is complete creative control and no one to answer to in terms of label management, which gives the whole project a fresh and independent approach.
With things now turning towards the future the frequency and intensity of the live shows will be the next step in terms of the creative process as well as opening up new avenues within the round Table. The website will also serve as a link not just to the band but as a database of articles and a forum for discussion/thoughts into the realms of secret societies, espionage and global spin. As was stated in the beginning, this is more than just a hip-hop crew, it is a movement and you are cordially invited to join this movement as strength is in numbers and our knowledge is our power.
