How to make a John
Ingredients:
5 parts success
3 parts humor
5 parts ego
Method:
Layer ingredients in a shot glass. Top it off with a sprinkle of fitness and enjoy!

Physically: Living in San Antonio TX since Nov 2002, born in Oct 1965, 6'2", 215 lbs, brown hair, and blue eyes.

Professionally: I enlisted in the US Air Force on 4 Jan 88 -- I retired as a Master Sergeant (E-7) from the Air Force ISR Agency in San Antonio on 30 May 2008. I'm currently looking for a new career while I'm on terminal leave for two months.

Mentally: Oh, I'm just mental...I find myself funny, I think I'm smarter than I probably am, I work hard, but I don't do it for money.

Additional info:

I was born in Pontiac, Michigan, and grew up in the Detroit area and lived in Berkley and Beverly Hills, Michigan. I graduated from Wylie E. Groves High School in 1983. I attended one year at Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Michigan, and have completed two Community College of the Air Force Associate's Degrees through several junior/community colleges and college-level testing. I am working towards my Bachelors with AMU and hope to get a Masters and PhD as well.

I was in the Air Force since Jan 1988 (was 22 when I enlisted) and retired just over 20 years later. My first ten years in the Air Force were in Security Forces (Air Force Police Officer) and on January 4, 1998 I retrained into Manpower and Organization (which is like a Industrial Engineer for the Air Force). My last assignment was at Lackland AFB, Texas, working in the Air Force ISR Agency. I used to be a warplanner and write speeches and ended my five+ years there in charge of an awards program. Now I'm looking for a new career outside the Air Force.

I was stationed or deployed at the following locations while in the Air Force:
Basic Training and Tech School, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas (two months)
Air Base Defense Training, Fort Dix, New Jersey (one month)
7th Security Police Squadron, Carswell Air Force Base, Texas (six years)
Deployed twice to Roswell Industrial Air Port, New Mexico (two weeks each);
Deployed once to Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska (one week);
Deployed once to Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas (two weeks);
30th Security Police Squadron, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California (two years);
722d Air Base Squadron, Turkey (one year);
Special Security Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany (ten months);
Manpower and Organization Training, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi (two months);
86th Airlift Wing, Ramstein Air Base, Germany (three years);
HQ USAFE Plans and Programs, Ramstein Air Base, Germany (two years);
Air Force ISR Agency, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas (almost six years by retirement)

It is easier to say, I have not been to these states yet in the USA:
Delaware
Hawaii
Massachusetts;
New Hampshire
New York
Oregon
Rhode Island
Vermont
Washington

I have been to these countries outside the USA:
Belgium;
France;
Germany;
Liechtenstein;
Luxembourg;
United Kingdom;
Switzerland;
Turkey
Mexico;
Canada;
Belize;
Grand Caymans;
Scotland!

In 2004 I was selected to represent the Air Intelligence Agency, the Air Force, and the Military as a Military Ambassador for the greater-San Antonio area. I, along with my female counterpart, Tiffani, visited schools and hospitals, participated in parades, and were involved in several military and community events. A large involvement is in San Antonio's Fiesta celebration in April, which is an awesome ten-day event that occurs in and around SA. There were also several pre- and post-events that occur around Fiesta.

I was a Division President in AFSA, which kept me very busy. I've been involved with a local Toastmasters Club and my HOA. I'm also attending American Military University and I'm close to a Bachelor's in Management (one class)--next I'll take a Quality Systems Management Master's Degree through National Graduate School. I might even look into a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with emphasis on Leadership and Motivation.

My Interests

Oh, why don't they give you a list with these things... How about, I don't like tomatoes. :)

In San Antonio, I've golfed at:
- Lackland AFB (both courses)
- Ft Sam Houston (both courses)
- Randolph
- Alamo Golf Club
- Cedar Creek
- Alsatian
- The Quarry
- Golf Club of Texas
- Buckhorn
- Northcliff
- The Bandit
- Olympia Hills
- The Hawk
- Olmos Basin
- Mission del Lago
- Willow Springs
- Silverhorn
- Riverside
- Tapatio Springs (Lake and Ridge)
- Devine
- Landa Park
- Canyon Lake
- The Golf Course of Seguin
- Woodlake
- Maverick

- Nothern Hills
The list keeps growing because I'm part of: http://www.ironthonggolf.com. I try to keep my handicap updated in my BLOG.

I always have about 20-40 Honey-Do projects lined up around the house, just never the money to get em done. :P

My tastes vary with adult beverages. I like German wheat beer, Dos XX, Bud Light, and Corona. I drink both red and white wine and like Port--check out WineStyles, great wine club in San Antonio. I also like vodka with cranberry juice or Red Bull.

I'm pretty much a non-smoker, but I don't have anything against smokers. I do; however, smoke cigars once in a while...maybe twice a month. "It's a hobby, not a habit."

I've seen the effects of drugs on people and I don't like it...not something I do or condone.

I like working out with weights and prefer working out with someone motivating. I belong to Gold's Gym and normally work out at Fiesta Trails, but have worked out at Crossroads too.

For fitness and enjoyment I like to swim, but I prefer pools over lakes and rivers.

When exercising, I like to ride the recumbent bike...I actually own one.

I've really got into running in 2006, thanks to a friend of mine. I've belong to a couple Hash Groups here in San Antonio.

I used to study Karate, but never in a belt system. I'd love to get back into it, but no time. I've been toying with cardio kickboxing though.

I like going out to socialize, drink, and dance with friends. I can two-step and swing a little and would like to learn more. Mostly just get drunk and look stupid, but it works for me.

I love San Antonio's nightlife. Some of the cool places I've been are Champs, Flying Saucer, Sherlock's, Polly Esters, Midnight Rodeo, Cowboys, Rebar, Broadway Bar, Swigs, Howl at the Moon, Holligans, Pat O'Brien's, BarFly, The Falls, Roxy's, Swigs, Chango's, Copa, and Cigar Bar.

I'm very involved with the military and my community as a volunteer.

I'm pretty involved with my Home Owner's Association and am the past president of the HOA for our 156 homes.

I've been an active Toastmaster since Oct 2000. I'm an ATM-B and CM, if you know what that means.

I've worked at the highest levels with the Air Force Sergeants Association. Been active with them since 1992.

My most rewarding volunteer involvement was as a Board of Director of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Tri-Counties in California.

I like reading science fiction and fantasy, but lately all I read is work-related technical stuff or school-related material. I also like to write...I'm actually working on several ideas for books and magazines. I've developed several newsletters and websites and even one 30+ page online book.

I love to travel...see the About Me section to see where I've been.

I like to tent camp and I've always wanted to doing some backpack camping.

I like to canoe and kayak (the open style kayaks...not the closed.) I've taken a three-day camping trip in a canoe and it was a blast.

I like striking off into the outback with a Camel Bak and nature as my guide. Government Canyon is really nice here in San Antonio for this type of activity. I also really enjoyed the times I've been to Big Bend. But, I've hiked all over the world and always love it.

I am big into computers (i.e., games, Internet, web design, and programming); I have even set up a LAN in my house (I think that's cool at least).

I also love photography...mostly scenic/landscape/architecture stuff. I'm somewhat of an amateur photographer...to look at some of my work, go to my profile pictures. I have several locations posted and continue to add to the list.
If you care, ask more...I dare you. :)

I'd like to meet:

I like to see this when I log into MySpace...

Where I call home...

So, who do I want to meet?

If you want to be my friend, then don't just add/accept my add request...I expect friends through MySpace to "talk." If I have actually "met" you, this proceeding rule doesn't apply, but if not, when I send you a message, you read it, and then ignore me, you'll be gone. I don't need to waste my time in one-sided conversations. Generally I look for people with similar interests to have as friends, but I'm not too picky.

More than a friend. Well, I'm pretty picky when it comes to more then friends. Honestly, I would expect you to feel the same way...probably why I'm single (grin). I prefer someone between 5'6" and 5'11" to effectively match my height. I'm not opposed to shorter or taller, just like that height the best...a woman that is taller then me in heels does not intimidate me. I'm looking for someone who is a professional and has goals, aspirations, and is dedicated. You don't have to be rich and famous, but I'm not looking for someone that needs their decisions made for them. Again, a woman that makes more then me does not intimidate me--I am very successful and I know that money isn't everything when it comes to success. Chemistry is very important...I wouldn't say there is a certain "look" that I go for, but finding someone physically appealing to me is important. I may not be the most physically fit person in the world, but I do take care of myself and I expect that of you. Being with someone that takes care of themself actually motivates me to work harder and I'd like to have a workout and running partner in my life. If you golf, that's a huge plus, because I love the game and if you don't get into it, you won't see much of me as I'll be on the course...I'd like a partner on the links as well as in life and that's difficult to find. I'm not hung up on age (plus or minus) and if you aren't then we'll get along fine. You must be a very sexually active person and obviously we have to work well together in that arena...in my mind, this is a very important part of a relationship. I like to eat out a lot, I like local live music, I'm always on the go, I'm an active volunteer, and I'm looking for that match. Who knows, maybe you're out there?

Music:

Keeping ths simple...I like a wide array of music genres. I don't like most Rap music and I'm not into really Heavy Metal or acidic tones, like hard punk. I really like New Age (like Enya and Yanni), Jazz, and Americana because I think when I listen to it...thus I write when I listen to it. I like good dance music, whether it's rock, pop, hip hop, swing, or country (& western). I like a good jazz club, like the Cigar Bar in Stone Oak Plaza, where I can relax, smoke a cigar, and enjoy music with friends. If you haven't heard Brandon Rhyder or Laura Marie yet (just a couple of the local artists on my page), you should check them out! Local music is my favorite. Some of the places you can listen to local live music: Luna, Rolling Oaks, Sam's, Casbeers, Cigar Bar, The Landing, Swig's, Chango's, and Candelight Coffeehouse.

Here's some music I like

Movies:

I like many types of movies and some I just don’t care for. I like watching movies in the theater, but usually reserve that for the ones I think will look good on the big screen. Otherwise, I go for the DVD or HBO versions.

These are the genres I prefer:

Action, Adventure, Epic/Myth, Fantasy, Science Fiction

Crime, Detective Story, Courtroom Drama, Gangster

Comedy

Coming-of-Age Drama, Love (Romance), Social Drama

Thriller, Horror: I can enjoy like the tense horror without a lot of gore, like Alien, I am Legend, or the first Riddick movie…senseless gore horror movies like The Hills Have Eyes or Saw are really just stupid to me.

The Black Comedy

Art Films

Historical Dramas

Musicals

Westerns

Television:

You have time to watch TV? If so, we need to get together...I'll take you away from it all. If I watch TV, normally it's only for a specific sports event. If I'm wasting time, I turn on a movie. TV series tend to pull me in and I don't have time to get caught up in a regular series. Nothing about my life is "regular." Well, almost nothing. :P

Books:

I find myself readin more business, leadership, and management stuff these days, but my likes are Sci-Fi/Fantasy with a little Espionage thrown in. I also read Runner's World Magazine and several golf magazines.

Does Porn constitute reading? (grin)

Heroes:

My Mom...she told me I could always do anything I wanted to (i.e., set my mind to) and she was right. She caused me to be very goal-oriented.

My Dad, just cause. He's dedicated his life to serving the community and doing the right thing and I try to do the same thing.

People who give of themselves and ask little or nothing in return--people who are passionate about what they believe in.

I've also worked with a few people that I really respected and looked up to as well. I try to emulate the good and learn from the bad. :)

My favorite quote is: "You never stand taller then when you stoop to help a child."

Damn Looters! Read 'Atlas Shrugged' and understand.

"Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable; procures success to the weak, and esteem to all." Letter of Instructions to the Captains of the Virginia Regiments (July 29, 1759), George Washington.
