About Me

Andy Walo, grew up in Stockholm, Sweden. At age five he spent nearly everyday at the turntable listening to The Beatles "White Album", over and over again. "I couldn't get it through my head how out of tune they were but still sounded so good." He got his first guitar at age 11 and joined his first band at age 14, playing Beatles and Stones songs note for note (in tune). A few years later, Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin became huge influences. After high school Andy leaned more and more towards Blues and early Rock and Roll & went on to establish himself as a full-time musician, living and performing in Denmark and England from 1989-1993. Chicago Blues artist Aaron Burton (formerly w/Albert Collins) happened to catch Andy playing in a downtown Copenhagen bar. They convinced Andy to move to Chicago in the spring of 1993. He started jamming with all the Blues-greats, including Buddy Guy, Big Time Sarah and soul singer Otis Clay. On his first American tours, Andy shared stages with Bo Diddley, J.J. Cale, Canned Heat, Koko Taylor, The Ohio Players and classic rock heroes the Blue Oyster Cult. In 1995, he became the lead guitarist for late great blues legend Junior Wells and spent the next two years touring the world with Junior Wells and his band. Milestone performances included the 1996 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival with the Allman Brothers Band and B.B. King. Andy Walo played on the two last recordings Junior Wells made before he died; the Grammy Nominated "Junior Wells Live at Buddy Guy's Legends" & "Junior Wells - Live Around The World." After relocating to Los Angeles, Andy started his own band in 2001 showcasing his original songs in the Classic Rock vein of Free and Led Zeppelin coupled with Classic Chicago Blues. His powerful trio plays 3 to 4 shows a week and has built a strong following all over Southern California and Las Vegas. "Live Your Life" - Andy Walo (available on www.amazon.com www.virginmegastores.com and www.cdbaby.com) was released In March 2004 by Philadelphia based indie-label Canadian-American Records, the full-length CD includes the folky "Traveled" which charted at No. 1 on the Austrailian Indie Charts and pure rock such as title-track "Live Your Life" and "We Are Together". In August 2004, Andy performed at the Annual Harley Davidson Festival in Sturgis, South Dakota Featuring Kid Rock & ZZ Top & spent six weeks touring Northern Europe in the summer of 2005. In 2006 Andy Walo & friend Stephen Rowe performed in Nashville, Tn. opening up shows for Aussie 80s band Men At Work. Andy Walo new CD is due for release 2007.
