The band released their first full-length album in 2003. Ever since, and before that, The Monotypes has been earning a reputation as a truly great live act. They have toured nearly every town in their homeland as well as numerous European countries such as the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and The Netherlands. They have played with both Swedish and international top-acts such as Danko Jones, The Datsuns and Mando Diao.
In the fall of 2005 The Monotypes released a five track EP. The song Prez. Rixon got plenty of air-time on Swedish radio. Overseas the Americans woke up and Dead streets was featured in an episode of the series Greys Anatomy. During the same period The Monotypes went on a very successful three-week European tour along with Sugarplum Fairy.
Early this summer the band started planning the recording of their second album. The question that needed to be answered was; how to transfer the soul and the spirit of a live performance into a studio record? After days of thinking The Monotypes sketched out a manifesto:
The album was to be recorded in seven days.
All instruments were to be recorded live.
A maximum of three takes per song were to be made.
No additional recordings were to be made unless agreed on in advance.
Now the album is finished and titled Dead Streets. It sounds amazing. You are welcome. The release of Dead Streets will be sometime this fall.
