Influences: Dug big band jazz as a kid, Satcmo & Duke and that crowd. Eddie Cochran & Gene Vincent convinced me early that jazz could not do it alone. Got involved with Johnny Burnette and his rock and roll trio, the cats from Sun records; Elvis, Carl Perkins , The Killer, Roy Orbison; You know..em. Heard Johnny Cash sing "I walk the Line" and got fucking mesmerized. Stayed with him ever since. And will do, to. I am still exploring his stuff, it is exciting, educating and fun! Best singer, best songwriter, simply the best; Cash is King! The blues hit me for awhile; The Wolf, Muddy, Sleepy John, Slim harpo, Johnny Guitar Watson, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stevie Ray Vaughan. Got turned on to the Stray Cats in 80-81 and went zip, bat headspinning crazy of course. Went on from them to just about everything. Some of my current influences except Cash: The Respatexans for the way they hit great music, Rodney Crowell for the greatest songs written today, Marty Stuart for his mindblasting performances and Ricky Broussard because he..s ALL HEART!
